Sorry if this is a silly question, but I am really paranoid about my new pikachu 3ds, because I know I'll never be able to get one again. I had the original 3DS and the top screen felt flimsy, like it was wobbly and unstable. I got rid of the 3DS and now I have a 3DS XL, and the top feels really flimsy again. I'm super paranoid that the system is going to get damaged or the screen will get more wobbly. But then i think back to every nintendo system I have owned, and they are all in great working condition. I have the vita, and after the galaxy s3 with it's all plastic body, I realize that besides the analog sticks, the Vita is really durable because it is mostly plastic and feels just like a samsung device. The 3DS XL just doesn't feel that way, and the dpad feels flimsy too. Am I being too paranoid? If this was a normal XL, I wouldn't be stressing this much, but because it's the super limited pikachu one, I am scared. Anybody have any problems so far with their XL durability wise? I treat my items well, I don't abuse them, but I am still scared. Please somebody give me some insight on their experience lol. Thank you. :)

I bought a Pikachu one as well (swallowed some pride), and I noticed the exact things you mentioned.

The floppy screen in particular bugs me. It's not easy to lay down and play games because of it. Kind of disappointed with Nintendo in that regard. They've had awhile to figure this shit out and they didn't do it. No idea about the long term durability obviously, but these problems are not just an issue with your 3DS.

I have a normal 3DS XL and have had it over half a year. The screen does wobble to an extent but not to the point that it isn't self supporting. It stays reassuringly instid of the little notch that you click it into when it is push back into the proper position. If I shake it it does move a bit but with a screen that size and the amount of leverage that is to be expected. I hope this helps.

Have been having this same thing happen to me and I picked my XL up a couple days ago. Thought it was broken and was pretty annoyed since I had installed all my games and what not. Still pretty disappoint how flimsy it is but I guess considering the weight it's understandable.

My 3DS had some alcohol exposure last weekend and I even managed to drop it once. Seems like the system was unharmed. The top screen seems to be almost as flimsy as my old units screen, didn't bother me then and doesn't bother me now. Still kinda miffed I dropped it, I'm using that foamy packaging material as a pouch until I can get a proper one, it's so damn slippery that the system just slid out of it and landed on the floor.

Yeah it better have some give, or we'll be having hinges snappin' left and right.

Believe it or not the flimsy screen is a good thing, if you guys ever had a DS Lite the screens on them would break very easily because there was no give and they were so stuck into place. This flimsy or wobbly screen prevents it from easily cracking off.

I loved the DS Lite. I had a small crack on one of the hinges, but it never progressed beyond that.

I see what you're saying though.

My DS Lite did end up getting a cracked hinge (because I played it all the dang time), but that was after about 3 years of constant play. I currently have the 3DSxl and I have not had any problems or foresee having any problems with it.

I get jealous whenever I hear about someone with the Pikachu XL haha. I tried to get one, but they were sold out everywhere. I ended up getting a normal blue one.

On topic, I agree that the wobbly screen is actually good. It almost cusions the preasure when you move it.
