The games look better, bigger, and the 3D effect is awesome!
Playing Starfox,i was amazed at an Arwing coming out of the screen...
Plus other games looking better on it.
OoT,etc.
That Arwing scratched my face,i swear...

Personally I think it's the Game Boy, that changed the way we saw handheld gaming, and even gaming in general, forever. And since then virtually all handhelds have followed in the Game Boy's footsteps in one way or another.

I'm serious,though.
And you kinda exaggerate on the GB.

I really don't.
Where would handheld gaming be without game boy? We'd be stuck with Mattel Electronics games such as Autoraceor Electronic Quarterback. Or have digital gaming on the Atari Lynx (which was awful)

Yeah but it don't compare to modern portables.

Everything has to start somewhere. I wouldn't crown something as the best, simply because it was the first at getting something right. Don't get me wrong, I respect it being the first, but to earn the "best" title, it needs more than that to be the best. For example: X came out first and got something right. Y takes X, and adds more to it. X has my respect, but Y is simply better.

Obviously, that's just common sense. If we were talking about the best technically then we'd have no choice but to say the 3DS / 3DSXL because they are the most advanced as of this point in time, hense rendering this topic completely useless. However, most of my cherished gaming memories come from the Game Boy era, playing Pokémon, Kirby and and Mario games for hours on end and not getting the slightest bit frustrating or bored. It's my personal favourite portable nintendo console to date.
:)
I kinda agree, the 3DS XL is much, much better than the original 3DS and I'm extremly happy I got it. But it should have come with a second analog stick :S

Agreed. In fact it'ss pretty much the main reason I got back to 3DS gaming. Since the JP launch of the Vita I pretty much only played Vita games when i played portable games, but I gave the 3DS with the XL another chance and I'm extremly happy with it :)
every nintendo portable is always a step up from the last so i gotta agree ,
i dont know about you but i certainly agree with tc ,
i have my xl on preorder and from the looks ive seen its alot better then the original the original still good but leaves those scratch marks on the screen im hoping the xl fixes that!
I think it's the DSlite, but to each his own.Rod90I hope you are being sarcastic? The ds lite is horrible. The gba games stuck out retardedly and it scratched and broke easily.
[QUOTE="Rod90"]I think it's the DSlite, but to each his own.YoshiYogurtI hope you are being sarcastic? The ds lite is horrible. The gba games stuck out retardedly and it scratched and broke easily. Dslite is very rugged, and the best way to play gba games--it plays them in their native resolution. ...though 3DS does a remarkable job as well.

I think the DS lite is one of the best redesigns ever. The DS phat looks like a prototype, its a complete joke compared to the DS lite. The DS lite was so much slimmer and nicer feeling than the original. And I don't where you're coming from with it breaking easy. The DS lite was a trooper, it could survive drops down stairs and on concrete. It was surprisingly sturdy. The GBA games did stick out, but its only a minor annoyance. At least it could play them, unlike the DSi.
I'll buy the redesign that comes with the second Circle Pad, I don't care if they claim they would have to make it bigger, as long as it fits in my pocket I'm fine.
Sora278
They won't make another redesign.

...Let's review Nintendo's history: DS phat, DS Lite, DSi, DSi XL. You don't think there will be at least one more redesign?

You're a fool. It was a vast improvement over the trapezoidal brick that was the DS- in form, weight, overall portability, not to mention the brighter screens. DS Lite was the penultimate DS iteration. That might be why I bought three of them by the time 3DS came out.

The gba stick out was the ultimate turn off for me as I was an avid GBA player. The only benefit was the brightness. I stuck out with my phat for 7 years until I got a 3DS. The phat still runs perfectly with no hinge problems at all. I do prefer the phat by a large margin.

You gotta be about the only one here that feels this way. The DS Phat was atrocious. Like someone said earlier, it seamed like a prototype for the DS Lite.

The DS lite is or course better, but I'm just stating my personal preference. I forgot the NUMBER ONE reason why I like the phat better! The D-pad on it is godly. Nice and big, accurate too. The ds lite's was small and weird, while my 3DS's one is a bit better, it's still bad.[QUOTE="Sora278"]

That's what we said 3 months ago.... Oh, hai 3DS XL. We were wrong. Honestly it was dumb to think we wouldn't get a redesign in the first place. Nintendo is just another company looking to maximise their profits. And you can bet they'll make a "3DSi" or something. On the topic off second circle pad... Nintendo would be absolutely dumb to do that. It's a tad bit too late now to change their button layout. It's exactly what games will be developed around until the end of 3ds' life. This will leave developers unsure what to do? They can't make games using that second stick because they'd only be catering to half of 3ds'demographic. Theyd miss out on a lot of money. Adding a circle pad would be absolutely pointless. Hardly any games are going to use it.[QUOTE="YoshiYogurt"][QUOTE="Rod90"]I think it's the DSlite, but to each his own.Rod90I hope you are being sarcastic? The ds lite is horrible.
