Wasn't sure if I should post this in a specific thread for this kind of stuff. Anyways, I was wondering on everyone's opinions on whether or not the new version of the 3DS was worth getting if I could just get the original version cheaper. I don't own the original 3DS either. But there are some games coming out like the new Paper Mario and Scribblenauts that I would like. I don't really care about the larger screen size too much, but I saw that there is a longer battery life and more memory. So, long story short, what do you think? Worth another $30?

Also, can the 3DS play GBA games? Off topic a little, but I'd like to know. I was considering buying a GameBoy Advance SP, but if this can play GBA games, I won't bother. :D

Well since you dont care about the bigger screens but want more memory, take the $30 or so you saved buying a regular 3DS and get like a 32GB microsd card with an sd adapter so itll work in the 3DS. And it does not play GBA games unless you bought the 3DS when it first came out and got the free Ambassador games. They might release them for download eventually but no plans yet.

It is, you get a much bigger screen which actually helps because I don't like the 3DS screen size just as I didn't like the DS original and DS lite's. The battery life and 4GB memory card are just icing on the cake, plus the design is better from what I've seen. It won't necessarily pay off by electricity bills or anything, but I'm contemplating trading in my original for a XL.

There are features on the 3DS XL that are improvements over the original 3DS . You could do research on them to find out what they were, then decide whether or not the extra $30 is worth it.

Yeah, I plan on doing more research before I'm going to buy it. I just wanted to hear everyone's personal opinions.

Get the XL or go home. Seriously.

A bigger screen is a plus and a negative at the same time. Yeah it's bigger, but the resolution is the same, so games are going to look slightly worse.

No they've said repeatedly that they will look exactly the same just bigger.

Too bad that's impossible. It's the same resolution, everything will be stretched to fit the screen. Not by much though, most times it probably won't be noticeable.

Yeah, from the reviews, the jaggies are a little bit more noticable. And supposedly the 3D actually looks a little bit worse, despite the bigger "sweet spot"

Stretched out images aren't my thing. I got my 3DS used and I wouldn't have paid any more for it so I say 3DS.

What the hell? Those hardware reviews seem to be all over the place. I guess you can only trust your own eyes with this one.

Personally I dont think so. Some reviews say the screens and 3d look worser. If you bought the regular 3ds you would have no problem with the screens and add 10 to that extra 30 you have and you can buy a game.
