which is the better resolution for a hdtv? i heard its worse for 480p, havent got the component cables yet thats why im asking

480i sucks. That's the resolution of standard definition tv. It takes 480 lines of video, but only alternates 240 at a time. It does it fast enough that you don't really notice, but in 480p it sends all the lines at once so the picture is smoother. A 480p image doesn't require as much stretching from your hdtv so it'll look much better.which is the better resolution for a hdtv? i heard its worse for 480p, havent got the component cables yet thats why im asking

Seconded. I have the component cables, and I can safely say that they are worth the 10$ if you own an HDTV.Why are there so many threads on this?

If you have an HDTV and you don't have component cables you're doing it wrong
