Howdy everyone, I've been reading some complaints people have about how their DS had gotten some scratches and how they want some protection and care for the DS, that I thought I'd share some ideas.

1) Never touch your DS with sticky fingers, sweaty palms or oily hands. That would only make the finger prints worse. If you do, spray on some multi-purpose cleaner on a lint cloth and wipe it away immediatly. Alternative to keep finger prints away, rub on some baby / talcum poweder on your finger tips and hands.

2) There are lots of variety of cool cases sold in shops. Some have a protective transparent film that easily allows you to slide your DS in and the only raw surface you'll touch are the buttons and 4-way control. You can also find on ebay some plastic transparent cases that acts as an extra "plastic armour" for your DS. In that way, you can still see the nice colour of your DS, yet protect it at the same time.

3) Get a sillicon rubber case(also can be found on ebay) which also totally encloses the whole DS, leaving only the buttons and controls uncovered to prevent scratches or further damages when it is accidently dropped. The rule of thumbs is always to keep your DS protected by an extra layer.

4) Keep a lint or spectacle wipe cloth together with the DS case. In that way, you can rub off finger prints and dirt off the screen immediatly so that the marks do not get "embedded" onto your DS. Rem: the longer a stain stays, the better chance it becomes a permanent mark.

5) Always have a screen protector for both your screens. Yeah they might be abit costly $15 to $20 for a set or transparent sheets, but hey at least we know it protects the screen and any scratches are only inflicted on the screen protector which can be changed.

Lastly always store your DS in a case/pouch when not in use. Or you can use a ziplock bag as well, that would definitely keep the dust and dirt off it. 8)

Great recommendations.  I'd have to give warning towards the silicon cases however.  The cheap, rubber ones would actually collect dirt and lint on their surface.  So be aware of that when considering purchasing one.

you guys should check out the Proporta cases for ds. they are a bit pricey ($35) but they are made of high-grade aluminium and are very nice/stylish. they have holes for all the buttons/jacks so you dont have to take out your ds to play or put a cart in.

Good job. I just got some screen protectors from Play Asia (the Hori ones) and it wasn't very expensive (less than 10$)

I'm really glad people like the guide. An yeah I know some sillicon covers actually collect dirt and turn a dirty yellow overtime. But you can remove the case soak it in some warm water mixed with a little bit of napisan(detergent) for a day and the yellow dirt might fade away. Otherwise u can just get a new sillicon case. :P

To tecom3n: Can you tell us more about the Proporta cases? Like where to find them?

To Sugarlegtesta: That's a really good buy for screen protectors, I got mine for $12, but I know ebay has some for $9.99.

Also, there are really some good bargain "rescue packs" sold in EB game stores sometimes. They include car charger, ear phones, case and screen protectors for a mere $19.90. Look out for their promotions.

Yea i've bought afew of Hori product and they work great. Just got the Protector and loving it. I prefer the hard cover case over the silicon rubber case.
