Well its 4 days until the deadline on Club Nintendo for obtaining elite status. I have 540 points and need 60 more. Im not really sure if there are any retail games I want right now. Kind of looking at Pokemon Conquest, but Im 32 and have never played a Pokemon game and not really sure where to begin. Plus that will still leave me 30 points short of Elite. The eShop maybe an option, but I cant figure out what points Ill get from most of the games. Sure it list the lastest eShop games with points on the Nintendo page, but Im not sure about some of the older ones. I want to get Zelda: Links Awakening, especially while its on discount, but Im not sure if you even still get points for it (I know you used to, and maybe you still do).

On the other hand I could just forget it and not worry about getting elite status and the free gift. Although last years one looked pretty cool. Any ideas?

If you're looking into the Pokemon route, Pokemon Black/White and Conquest would be enough. Pikmin 2 is going for 60 coins right now and it's only $20.

Well I already have Pikmin 2. Im not sure about the Pokemon route as I have never played one before, and like I said Im 32 years old (Not that it really matters Ill play any game). I do play alot of RPG's, but is are the games that great of RPG's or are they just good RPG's with cute Pokemon characters that everyone loves?

Well, the appeal of the series goes a lot deeper than having some cute characters. It's actually a really deep RPG and there's something there for pretty much everyone. It's hard for me to really explain, but I think Pokemon deserves a shot. As a fan of the genre, Pokemon is easily my favorite series.

Just checked my own status and I'm 50 points away from platinum status. Guess I'll have to pick up two games tomorrow. It's my first year being in Club Nintendo, so why not.

Pokemon is an RPG that can be as sallow or deep as you want it to be. There are so many things that effect stats that you don't know about without digging deeper and aren't immediately apperent. Also the trying to defend you team from all other possible team with only six pokemon and 24 moves is really addicting. The only JRPG I will even touch unless you count dark souls as a JRPG

Gosh, I wouldnt even know where to start with Pokemon. Would picking up a copy of Black/White or Black/White 2 be a good place to start or do I have to go back further? The story is not that important to me as long as I dont feel totally lost missing the older titles.

I'm in a similar predicament myself- I need 80 points to make elite status. My brother bought himself a wii last year along with Metroid and Zelda. I'm going to try and hit him up for his registration codes :D As far as Pokemon goes, I havent played one since Leafgreen on GBA, but as far as I know, the story is always the same, so you don't miss out by buying the later ones without having played the earlier ones.

Black and White is as good a place to start as any, the only problem is that the older games will be less appealing if experienced out of order. :P
