In the recent Nintendo Japan conferance a slide mentioned that as 7.8 million purchases of vc software occured worldwide. The last announce of such sales data was done in July which stated 4.5 or was it 4.7million purchases had occured. Would you say they are selling a decent of vc games each month?

Will the numbers continue to skyrocket?

What are the thoughts of the gamespot hive mind on this bit of sales data?

How will the wiiware game sales be?

By the way what are these new WiiWare things people are talking about??

That's not much considering its less than 1 game per Wii and there are many people like me who have like 30 VC games.

You can store your VC games on SD. But you have to transfer them to the flash memory to play them.

Also, the Wiiware games are the games from indies games and some are from big 3rd party. There's Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles (probably online) that is coming on the Wiiware and there's also Dr. Mario Wi-Fi compatible to come as well. Infact, according to Iwata, Nintendo received over 100 projects on the Wiiware. It begins in early 2008.

30!!! Nice collection. I only have 18 and I begin to running out of space. I have4 N64 games: Super Mario 64, Mario Kart 64, Paper Mario and Sin & Punishment. I have a feeling S&P is the biggest game right now. It took like 250 blocks.

Yes, of coursethe sales will continue to heighten. The Virtual Console is one of Nintendo's finest creations, and that huge number of sales the VC has already raked in can only get larger due to the introduction of the promising Wii Ware and the addition to some more classicgames(Chrono Trigger and SSB hurry up, goddamnit!) from Nintendo'srevoloutionary library of games.

Overall the VC is looking wonderful and can only improve in my eyes.

Laterss.

No, it really is even when there's people who are as "overzealous" as yourself put in the mix

Just about 50% of Japanese homes have a broadband connection while it's about 68% in the US. Now in Japan we know that less then half of all it's users has their Wii online (no idea about the US number of Wii's connected)

Now if we take the cheapest offering on the Virtual Console that means that Nintendo (and the other companies) have made over 39 million dollars with next to no overhead. I say no overhead because it takes Nintendo next to no money to offer these titles up that before was making them no money at all.

Also when you figure how many people have owned these games before and don't have much incentive to get them again this new source of revenue is amazing.

40% of wiis have gone online. More and more japanese are getting comfortable buying points cards so the numbers of wii owners buying the games is increasing. The Japanese as a whole are not into online or phone shoping due to credit card phobia.

The wiiware crystal chronicles looks to be offline and is a simcity build type game.

It looks like more wii owners then xbox 360 owners have bought downloadable games. The xbox 360 online rate is quite low in comparison to the wiis.

Not a lot of people owned a neo-geo or tg-16. There are loads of new wii owners who admit to never owning a nes, or snes or n64.

As for space take a lot to see how many messages/photos people have sent you or you have stored in the wii. Those take a large amount of space.

Personally I would say that unless VC games start diversifying, they will gradually fade in popularity compared to the Wiiware titles that eventually come out. What I mean is on the positive side it's awesome that new console titleslike the Neo Geo are being added to the library of VC games but on the negative side there really aren't a lot of different VC games out there. How many different fighting games are people likely to download?

And obviously Wiiare games are probably going to take a while to really get good. Don't be expecting anything like Geometry Wars-type quality right out of the gate.

So until Wiiware gets really going, VC will still be very popular. I just wish we could get some variety and not yet another Bomberman/Ghouls N Ghosts/Street Fighter game. I'm getting tired of watching expectantly on a Monday to see what new games will be released just to say "I've already got several games like that, what a waste!"

At least we know Nintendo has deep pockets... I have a question though...would it be accurate to say that the VC is nearly pure profit?

You would be correct.
