I'm going to be getting a Wii in a couple of months, and wanted to know if the 512mb of flash drive is enough space for games, or if I should get an SD card. I might download a couple VC games also. BTW, how much space do VC games take up?

Well i dont download VC games, so i wouldnt know how much space they take. But for game saves, 512 is enough. Most games saves range from 1 - 5 'blocks' of space, and you have about 2200. The only games i've seen with large amounts of block space are Madden and Far Cry. Also, some channels take space like internet and Everybody votes(50 - 100.)

For VC games, i think they take about 300 - 500.. not sure.

I already got a SD Card just in case, it cost me 30 dollars, its 2GB. :D

You can redownload the bought vc games as much as you wantor you can archive the beaten or rarely played ones to a SD card. Do the same with the game saves of beaten or rarely played games.

VC games most often take 100 blocks or even less.

I beleive it is the stuff you unlock that makes the number that large. They rushed it out so they didn't optimize the save system.

Unless you're going to be spending twice as much money on the games as you paid for the system, you probably won't need an SD card right away. I have 6 Wii games, 8 VC games (1 N64, 1 Genesis, 3 SNES, and 3 NES) and so I haven't even used half of my flash memory.

If you're going to get a good number of VC games...(ranging from SNES-N64), something like 5-10 games, then yes...

The internal memory is plenty right now. I don't think you could hold all 100 VC games right now though. Not that you would want all 100 of them because there's a lot of crap VC games too. When the NEO-GEO games come out then you'll want a SD card because arcade ROMS take up around 256MB.

All NES games are less than 4MB
I'm not sure how much space Super NES takes up but N64 games are around 10-30MB

256 megs uncompressed data. It's actually closer to 30-40 megs when you put it through modern compression techniques. However that does take a while. Probably why we are getting it six-seven months are it was said by SNK that they were agreeing to put their games on the vc.
