7.6
Well, I'll probably get it when I have the money.
Thoughts?

I think that it's an overpriced retail game that should have been Wiiware for about 15 dollars and it would have been an all time seller on the console.
For that price it's going to sink like a stone
sman3579
Its priced at 40 dollars right?
Yes, and places like Amazon have it for 36 right now
It just seems really steep considering what it's up against
On Wiiware it would be one of the top dogs probably for the length of the console's life

Seems to be alot of length for the game though. 80 levels sound good to me. Lower score then i expected, but still ok. I'll wait for other reviews because i don't really trust IGN. Anyone know price in Canada? (please be 45)I think that it's an overpriced retail game that should have been Wiiware for about 15 dollars and it would have been an all time seller on the console.

I want to see you fit 80 platforming levels into a 48MB WiiWare game. If you can do that, you might have a point. Besides, this is the second review that has mentioned that the game is actually lengthy (Nintendo Power's review being the first of them). If this game should be a WiiWare title, a good 80% of the Wii's library should also follow suit. :P
Now, as for the review itself, it strikes me as a bit odd, honestly. There weren't any major gripes about the gameplay itself, outside of the questionable control setup, which definitely doesn't look like anything game-breaking. Yet, the game couldn't even crack an 8 by IGN's account, despite complimenting the core gameplay and the interesting puzzles. Now, I'm as big against things like load times and stubborn controls as anyone, but I found the review to be pretty harsh for what the game is as a whole. Cassmassina's final thoughts of the games sums it up rather nicely in the sense that he looks like he has to nitpick certain 'shortcomings' to find much negative about it. Coming from a place that have criticized Wii games from having too much waggle and being too simplistic, you would think one would appreciate a challenging game that also doesn't over-use the Wii Remote's motion controls when they're not needed. Hypocrisy much?
A disappointing score, but that's irrelevant at this point. There wasn't anything that the review mentioned that would discourage me from keeping my pre-order of this game intact or anything of that nature. I'm still very much looking forward to playing this game. :)
That sounds great. While I haven't played the game I think Matt's complaints make a lot of sense, the whole process of transforming Blob into objects seems to be quite "long" for a skill that is used so often in the game and the load times can disrupt the game's pace. Still, I love 2-D platformers and A Boy and His Blob will be the perfect warm up for New Super Mario Bros.
The actual review doesn't match up with the score, he was to harsh on the numbers and unfortunately thats what a lot of people look at.
I don't care what score IGN gives it; I'm gettin' this game eventually. For the people sayin' it's overpriced, how so? It's actually sellin' for only $39.99 at retailers, so that's a nice change from all the $50 games. Also, I hope the fact that it's 2-D isn't affectin' anyone's purchases.:P

I agree. Something was definately odd about the final score compared to the comments made about the game. If I had read the review without looking at the score I would definately have guessed higher than 7.8. I'll probably be picking this one up whenever it makes it to Australia.
I'll get it in a cheaper price. Also, it doesn't come in Quebec like many games that I want. I'll import from US: Little King's Story, Muramasa and that game. I have a huge feeling that Fragile and Arc Rise Fantasia won't come as well. I have to import Metroid Prime Trilogy from Ontario. I hate to live in Quebec.
Now that I have gone over what he said of the game, I too am kinda' surprised at the game's final score. His only real two complaints were the controls, which it's horribleness is controversial, and loading times. Just because of those two things, though, I don't get how this game got anything lower than an 8 from IGN. They seem to be the one that gives the most inflated Wii scores out of all the big-name reviewers, and two small factors like those don't really add up to the game being given a 7.8
Eh, who really cares. I'm still gettin' the game.:P
Dont just look at the score, read the review. A number doesnt mean anything.I expected higher score. Might be getting it later.

I bought Muramasa and Little King's Story in retailer and I am living in Quebec. I don't know where you're coming from, but if there's an EB Games near you, you can get those game without calling them from ontario.
Higher than what they gave TMNT and Spyborgs, but much lower than what they gave Muramasa. Of course, Muramasa was reviewed by Bozon, who tends to overrate games, so I'm not surprised.

Do you think the Quebec government's stubborness to accept English as an official co-language has something to do with retailers not having certain games? Just curious, that's all.

Don't blame the devs. the aspirations to make the game they wanted to make were too big for the wii.
blame Nintendo for shipping a console with 512MB memory. and with their 40MB cap on WiiWare. Yes, what you've said is true but what else could they do?
Release it for other downloadable services but raise costs significantly?

I seriously don't know. Maybe.The game should have gotten a 8.3-8.5
Its way better then a 7.6
sman3579
I'm still thinking about the score myself, but as someone who has beaten this game, I can now say for sure that IGN's score doesn't quite do this game justice... :P

Oh well, a 7.6 is still good.

You already beat the game? Dang.:P
Did you actually complete it 100%, or did you just complete the main levels?
Just completed 20 stages, plus 20 extras. The game is fun, and I didn't have major problems with the controls. Selecting the blob skill is not perfect, but it didn't become an issue.
Main stages have many "checkpoints". Whenever you die you get back to the last checkpoint, saving a lot of time. You can die 10 times, take your time and still finish a stage in 5-8 minutes.
Extras require you to stay alive from start to finish, but they are generally shorter, 1-2 min.
One thing missing from this game is a level editor, and online for levels download.

LOL, I was actually trying to pace my way through it, but once I got to the last couple of worlds, I had trouble putting it down. :P Anyways, I just beat the main game thus far. I still have to get some treasure chests I left behind in a few stages and take down the challenge levels (I decided to leave them for later, but so far, they've actually been rather short). I intend to put a review up once I'm done, though. :)

lol I hate it when I try to pace myself through a game, only to rush through it because of it's awesomeness. Maybe I just need to learn a bit more self control when it comes to video games.:P
I'm eager to read your review, though. Wanna' see some player opinions instead of all this big-name reviewer stuff.
