There were/are many Brawl owners that did not know that Brawl had any sort of waggle controls (use of the motion controls)... I find out some days after I got my copy, which was a few days after it released.

I originally thought that you could not charge up the Smash Attacks when using the waggle for smash attacks.. Well it is possible, and I found out how. I will also go into detail about everything possible when waggle or motion controls are turned on.

First off, Smash attacks are done by motioning left right, up, or down, depending on the smash attack you wanna do, and the way you are facing. Now to Charge when using motion controls, its sorta just like doing a regular smash attack with the analog, but your doing the motion while holding A.

You can also use the motion controls to do your dash attack (running attack), by motioning with the wii remote in the same direction you are dashing. Also while airborne (in the air), you can use the motion controls to do your forward, downward, upward, backwards air attacks, by performing the motion in the direction you want to attack.

Super Throws. When you have an item that can be thrown, using the motion controls, you can throw right, left, up or down depending on the motion you make. Standard up Attack (up kick). This works better if you have analog stick jumping turned off. When someone is descending (coming down) over the top of you, you tilt the analog all the way up, and make an up motion to perform the up attack or kick, depending on the Character.

You can also fire guns by motioning in the direction you want to fire. Also, when you grab hold to someone, you can use the motion controls to attack right or left.. However you still have to flick the analog left, right,up or down to throw your opponent..

Credit to "IceFiles" from IGN Boards, for even more info regarding the Brawl waggle controls (motion controls). Turns out there is even more depth to the motion controls..

I was surprised to learn the following.... Posted by IceFiles:

The Waggle can also be used during shielding. While shielding, if you waggle down, you'll dodge. Waggle to either side, and you'll roll. Waggle up and you'll grab. It's pretty easy to counter after a dodge this way. Shield, waggle down, then waggle towards opponent. The Waggle is actually extremely responsive, even moreso than the C-stick, it feels to me. And the bonus is that your thumb never has to leave the attack button in order to go reach for an analog stick...

You can also use B attacks with the Waggle. It's very tricky to pull off though. Essentially, you Waggle the Wiimote in the direction of the desired B attack and tap the B button at the same time. It's like doing a smash attack. Tap control stick and A at the same time. It's the same thing with Waggle and B moves, except it's motion instead of a control stick. If you can master this, then your control stick can be left free to control character movement entirely. No more fearing creating downward momentum when you want to use a DownB recovery like Luigi's. Tricky, but great.
