It's T rated for mature ideas about religion, world conquest, etc., but anything mature will fly right over the kids' heads so it's hardly anything to worry about (no profanity or sexual themes outside marriage, the worst it gets is a guy who drinks beer). If you can deal with these things, Little King's Story would be good. If kids are playing it make sure to put it on Easy mode though or they will completely fail to get anywhere.
And if this is just for someone older who wants a less mature adventure game, than anything I just said can be disregarded.
If this doesn't work, Super Mario Galaxy (platformer but close enough) is your best bet.
I've played Spectrobes Origins and it's pretty darned good. I liked it better than Batman AA. The story's a little weak, even for what it's doing, and it has that Saturday morning vibe, which might offend you if you're in the tweenie age group, but everything else is tops. The game engine is polished, the battle system is interesting, and the puzzles are basic - no head scratchers here unless you're very young.
By far the reasons to get and play the game, if you're from an older demographic are the battle system, and the excavation game. Both are very interesting diversions. In battle you control your human character and your Spectrobe simultaneoulsy. Each Spectrobe has a normal, strong, and Special attack and knowing how to use them well takes some figuring out. They vary between single-hit, multi-hit, ranged, and mixed types, and have movement idiosyncrasies and speeds, and such. I always found it satisfying when I control the human and Spectrobe especially well duing combat. In like manner, changing your weapon and shield in combat offers you an array of tactical choices. The implementation of the attack is just mashing "A," but the choice of which weapon and where to deploy it is somewhat more involved.
I liked it a lot. If you're a fan of the Kingdom Hearts type brawlers, I recommend Spectrobes highly. It runs at about that speed, and you don't need to fly through annoying space ship segments.
Super Mario Galaxy.Rod90
Your best option.
But I would guess that almost every Wii owner already has this game.
