i have a theory... since they said Mario & Sonic at the Olympics is the first game to feature them both in the same title.... ...that may mean Sonic wont be in Brawl it all matters on what they said - "This will be the first time that the two well-known digital stars have appeared in a game together." here's my reasoning... this olympic game is coming out in Q4...well, lots of people have been speculating SSBB coming out earlier than that giving me reason to believe Sonic wont be included since they said the Olympic game will be the first game to feature both of them in the same game It all makes sense when you think about it... so unless Brawl comes out after this Olympic Game, then Sonic will be excluded...or... They just totally take back what they said and put them both in Brawl before they're put in Olympic Games -Zuma
Well, that's what I thought when I first read it, but I hope it's not true. Plus, Shigeru Miyamoto did not actually say it, those are just the words of Emma Boyes of Gamespot UK, who would not know if Sonic is in Brawl.

Here's the flaw in your theory: This is the first OFFICIAL ANNOUNCMENT of them being in a game together. It doesn't mean that Sonic isn't in Brawl. All signs poin to him being in Brawl. Do you honestly believe that Sonic won't be in Super Smash Bros. Brawl at this point? Of course he will! Nintendo doesn't like to do logical things and Matt would be in trouble if he talked about games he was under obligation to be quiet about. Obviously, to speak that directly he couldn't have signed an NDA for SSBB or he'd lose Ninty's trust. That said, I trust Matt, and I know he gets dirts WAAAY ahead of time. I think he's speculating in this particular case though.... I hope I'm wrong.
Maybe they meant it's the first game to be announced featuring the two together? It's been neither confirmed nor denied that Sonic could appear in SSBB. So perhaps they are saying this is the first game they definately know will be starring the two characters.
I think he might not be in Brawl because it is possibly going to be a 2007 realease. I am looking forward to this game. This Sonic in Brawl might happen because people want him in it.

The character Shadow is just getting tired. He was supposed to die in SA2, and they keep bringing him back. Same as other characters. I'd rather have it if they just kept it so when someone dies in the Sonic universe they STAY dead and not magically reappear in another game that acts like nothing happened. Sonic needs to be taken out of this Time Paradox crap.
So why can't he still be introduced into Brawl? It's not like the say SSB is the first game to feature Solid Snake and Mario. It's also not like Sonic and Mario are the only players in the game. Olympics might be the first to feature both but that doesn't mean it will be the first to have both.

Just going to point out, that this is offely close to April fools day. Hence why I insist that Nintendo and Sega are joking around about the Olymipics, I believe that at some point they will say, Happy April Fools, and then release a statement and Pictures of Sonic in Smash Bros. It just seems to make more sense. I mean, it took forever for Nintendo to even release info about Brawl, let alone show us a title screen, yet we have already been given a screen, just kind of odd, as well as it is going to be out by Q4, seems a bit rushed, or was kept, ultra top secret... Considering this all, I personally highly doubt Olyimpics, and if they were to make it, I wish them luck, because fan base alone will not hold the game above water.

Yeah, you're right. Just because it is an official annoucement that Mario and Sonic is in a new game, doesn't mean that Sonic doesn't appear in Brawl. And even if Sonic doesn't appear in Brawl, he still appears with Mario in one game.Â
ur wrong i see that sonic team is doing olympics so they got rights to mario and they in return gave nintendo and all them rights to sonic so he is in brawl and ssbb is a winter holiday release.

I read and interview with the creators saying this would be the first game with the characters staring in it.
They may secretly put Sonic in Brawl as an unlockable, but keep it hidden to where you have to do some super special acheivement to unlock him. Sorta how you needed every character unlocked before Mr.Game & Watch was playable. Nintendo could just be sneaky like that. So they could just not say anything about Sonic being in SSBB or not, and do that.

I don't REALLY care if they put Sonic in it or not though. I just want it out soon, and for it to be just as, or even more fun than SSBM.Â

What's the big deal about having Sonic in brawl, a game is good if the game is good, characters have hardly any impact... Especialy when theres what 70 of them? They don't talk, there's no story line, and they don't fight much differntly.
I would just like to point out that in an SNES sonic game there was a character that appeared to be mario, although they never specified that he was. If I could remember the name of the game I would link it, but I can't remember it at the moment, if anyone else remebers, or knows it would be nice if it could be linked. Thankyou.
