The only people who know are the internal minds at Nintendo, Sony, and Microsoft.

My guess says yes. Wii will get most multiplats, but you would probably see a difference in graphics akin to XBOX - PS2.

I doubt MS or Sony are going to be going too far in terms of hardware power next generation. More complex consoles are too expensive, especially when cheap tech like the Wii outsells them three to one.

Probably not - all reports indicate the WiiU is pretty close to the current consoles in terms of power. It's unlikely to compare favourably to the next ones. Though we don't know for sure yet.

The graphics leap from this generation to next generation won't be as big as the previous leap. Since all 3 consoles should be on par with each other, they should be getting the same multiplats as each other.

It doesn't even matter if the PS4 and next XBOX are way more powerful than the Wii U as long as the architecture is close. The reason many games couldn't be ported to the Wii is because the architecture was so different and things were a huge pain to get working on the Wii, not because of the lack of power. I think next generation, the consoles will be even closer. So probably a lot of games will work on both, but not all of them.

A guy from epic said the unreal 4 engine would run on Wii U in a (slightly scaled down) mode. If thats any indication I think games will be portable between them.

There was a very wide power margin between Wii and 360/PS3, I think the power margin this time round will be something more in the range of Dreamcast vs PS2 and Xbox.

^this. What I think is great about the WiiU is that it is a perfect combination of new and traditional. I'm hoping that the maximum number of controllers is 2 like some rumors have suggested.

I think I am inclined to think this way as well.

Sure the Nextbox or PS4 might have a little better graphics than the WiiU, But I honestly don't think it will be any more than the WiiU compared to the Xbox360.

The reason why Wii lacked multi-plat support is:

1.) not enough interest (for example the CoD games sold the worst on Wii)

2.) specific controller (they should have added the classic controller in the main bundle)

3.) too weak (it's literally last-gen in hardware terms so ports from stronger consoles looked bad)

i'll let you know once we see some specs of all 3. my guess is that it'll be reasonably weaker than the others, but will get a few more multiplats than this gen.

The newest (and im assuming final) dev kit Nintendo released is roughly twice as powerful as the Xbox 360 and about 1.5x more powerful than the PS3.

Not the amazing leap everyone was hoping for but on par with a decent modern gaming PC.

Well I think yes because the wii can run most of the games the ps3/xbox 360 has at the moment. Of course there is some games it doesn't have because of the hardware on the wii. But the Wii U will be in full 1080p hd and I can imagine most multiplat games the ps4 and next xbox has will run on the Wii U but with lower resolution and graphics. But in this day and age surely it wouldn't really matter because the graphics are amazing now as it is.

This should really be in System Wars.
