The sensor bar wire shouldn't be that tough to repair, it's only two conductors.  Get a soldering iron and some electrical tape.  If you're not up to it, I bet you have someone in your circle with the necessary skill and tools.

Have you ever watched those films of starving people in Africa who have flies all over them, and you say, "why don't they care about those flies?"  Why don't you care that there's rats in your house?

If you got 2 candles, you can position them about the length of the sensor bar and you can use them until you get another sensor bar. You don't need any cables or anything, since it all works by ir sensors. Depending on the candles, they actually could be better than the sensor bar itself.

Problem is they go into your walls, then when they die, the smell kicks in. It takes a while to know where its coming from, and you have to go through the wall to get it out. So exterminator not a cat...

Go to the hardware store and buy a couple of sticky traps they come in boxes of 2 and probably only cost a couple bucks, that way the rat can't get away and won't die in the walls. You just have to kill it afterwards, drown it in a bucket nice and easy.

I had a friend once that had a rat infestation. They came into his place and burrowed into the insulation in his wall and had babies. He pretty much ended up having to move, there was no way to exterminate them without ripping the house apart. Luckily for him, it was a rental. I hope you don't own the place. I'd get out of there now, if I were you. The Wii sensor bar is the least of your problems buddy. I'd sleep with rubber bands around my ankles, so the rats don't crawl up your pants leg and go for the gold. When that happens, it's all over.

i had the same problem.  you have to strip the wires then take a lighter and burn the coating off the twist them back together.  i know it sounds crazy but it works.

i suggest two options:

1) Leave cyanide pills around your Wii equipment to stop all rat infestations from destroying ur equipment

or

2) This is where wireless technology kicks in, BUY A WIRELESS SENSOR BAR

It depends on how much food there is for the rats.  You usually don't get rats and mice unless they have a food supply, so go around and see if you can find out what they're eating.  You may have to clean.  If they don't have any food, they'll leave.

Cyanide pills?  Like what spies supposedly have for when they get captured.  I've only heard of cyanide coming in glass capsules that you bite down on to kill yourself, I don't think a rat will fall for that.

just get some rat poison or some heavy duty traps. If they dont go away for a while call an exterminator cause they will multiply. We usually get mice every once in a while and they hang out in the attic but some poison and traps make quick work of them and if they do die in your walls they smell like death itself but it goes away after a couple of weeks.

Take care of the rat problem first, because if you get another cable the same thing might happen again.

Ewww no snakes.... Rats are better. Just go and kill the rats with your hands, or beat them with my schools encyclopedia. (its big!)
