Interesting... Mario was one of the first game heroes was he not? Before him it was all arcade with no names. Maybe this would give someone else a chance at creating a Mario like hero and Nintendo wouldnt have anything or anyone to sell consoles... maybe Nintendo would still be in the taxi and love hotel industry today if Mario was never created... who knows.XenoLair*cough*pacman*cough*
Gaming would look entirly different if it still existed. Theres no game today that can't be in some way be traced back to one of the mario games
the gaming industry would have died in 1983 and the world would be an unbearably boring place.BrunoBRS
This.
Mario made Nintendo what it is, no Mario means Nintendo either doesn't participate in the gaming industry at all. Hence, no modern gaming industry, none of the other competitors.
Fred Savage would have missed out a chance to be in the greatest movie of all time The Wizard.
Aw hell yes :D
Luigi would finally have a chance to shine!

Noone likes Luigi.
The world would be very sad.:cry::cry::cry::cry::cry::cry::cry::cry::cry::cry::cry::cry:
The Real answer, as someone on here liked to put it is simply this...
You don't know, none of us do.
Gaming has become the largest medium for story telling and expression on the planet, Gaming has influenced technology, and technology has influenced gaming.
Eyeglasses are technology, pencils are technology. Just as computers and Iphones.
If Mario wasn't around, that would change gaming. If you change gaming, you change a lot of things.

Actually without Mario, Luigi would exsist either. Unless I am missing some important part of Mario bro's history.

I'm sorry I don't understand when you say without Mario,Luigi would exsist either.
What I mean is that, Lugi first appeared in an arcade game called Mario Bros. So basicly, If the gaming industry never experienced the wonders of Mario, they would have never experienced his brother, Luigi, either.
*edit* and yes I know I spelled exist wrong.

Yeah that's true but it doesn't really refer back to the comment that vgamefreak225 made about no one liking Luigi>.>
A world without Mario would mean a world without Paper Mario, and a world without Paper Mario would be a very, very sad world......at least for me.
The gaming era would probably be not around because of the insparational games that have come out.

Wouldn't say that, Interactive media would of been around... Mario didn't invent that... Man did..
Gaming would still be around. IT is a logical next stage in the evolution of expression. (also playing is one of the best ways we as a species learn, and has a direct relation to our intellect as well)
However, the difference would be that Mario isn't the most known gaming character of all time. There would be another.
Thats like saying if Bach wasn't around then music wouldn't be either, disregarding the Gregorian chants and tribal music that came long before. Music still would of been music, yes maybe a little different than it is today, but it still would of been.
Yeah, just imagine. All that variety, all that creativity, maybe even games which require concentration and skill, I don't want any of that. Just keep giving me Mario rehashes a few times a year, thanks.it would be chaos!!!
well the gaming world would be ALOT different thats for sure

Super Mario Sunshine and both Galaxy games just felt like yet another Super Mario 64 to me. Which I didn't really enjoy. New Super Mario Bros Wii was the first "Mario" game I've enjoyed since Yoshi's Island. At least Nintendo funded/published both of the Sin & Punishment games, and gave us Metroid: Zero Mission, so they haven't been a complete waste of a company for the last decade.[QUOTE="almossbb"]
