I don't know if the game has been released on the U.S. yet, I just got it (in Germany) and since GS won't be writing a review for it anytime soon, I thought I could share my impressions after a couple of hours on it:.

The good:

- Fire Emblem core gameplay we know and love.

- Beautiful, colorful graphics.

- Cool touch screen controls (still you'll be using the D-pad).

- Amazing combat scenes.

- Some of the Path of Radiance/Radiance Dawn elements, like the possibility of marking an enemy's attack range.

- Some new features, like changing the cIass of your characters anytime, the option of skipping the enemy's phase, etc.

The bad:

- The "Rescue" command, one of the series' flagship ones, is gone, and we miss it.

- Characters's designs feature some 3D aspects, making them less atractive than the completely 2D ones of previous versions.

- Music is extremely repetitive.

- The Normal difficulty is kinda too easy for series' veterans (you can start on Hard, so that's no big deal)

- The storyline is too simplitic in comparison to other FE games (but it is still better than 90% of RPGs out there).

Conclusion:

There's no reason for FE fans or RPG/SRPG fans for not getting this game. Everything you could expect from it is there, making this game one of the DS best games and a worthy addition to an awesome series.

I'm not a big fan of importing, but when this releases in the U.S. it's a first day purchase. Thanks for the opinions.

It's not released in the US. I have the EU version as well. All the same, it's just Fire Emblem on the DS and with Marth, a hero who I'm sure we all already know.

If you live in the US, there's no reason to import this title since it's coming out in February....

Sounds good. I'll definately pick it up.

Even though I haven't played it, I still would have prefered a new one instead of a remake. Oh well.

It's 26 chapters, you can easily breeze through the beginning in like an hour...

That's pretty good. Shorter than the first one released here, but longer than Sacred Stones...I can live with that.

Funny, when SSBM came out, people where crazy to who exactly WAS Marth. Now, we all know who he is. Anyway, I don't plan on importing Fire Emblem anytime soon. I think I'll just wait until the US Release kicks in.

People talk about this game being "short," but would this be obvious for the remake of the first game in the series, a game that was originally released in 1990?

Really? I hardly ever use Rescue, unless I accidently postioned my healer in fromt of boss or when you have to protect civilians.

And again, does anyone know where I could import this?

TAKE_IT_BACK, you can import Shadow Dragon at http://www.play-asia.com. The online store is located in Hong Kong, but it sells legitimate video game-related goods. I have ordered from it several times in the past.

I tried looking there before, but all they have are the Japanese version.
