I don't know if the game has been released on the U.S. yet, I just got it (in Germany) and since GS won't be writing a review for it anytime soon, I thought I could share my impressions after a couple of hours on it:.
The good:
- Fire Emblem core gameplay we know and love.
- Beautiful, colorful graphics.
- Cool touch screen controls (still you'll be using the D-pad).
- Amazing combat scenes.
- Some of the Path of Radiance/Radiance Dawn elements, like the possibility of marking an enemy's attack range.
- Some new features, like changing the cIass of your characters anytime, the option of skipping the enemy's phase, etc.
The bad:
- The "Rescue" command, one of the series' flagship ones, is gone, and we miss it.
- Characters's designs feature some 3D aspects, making them less atractive than the completely 2D ones of previous versions.
- Music is extremely repetitive.
- The Normal difficulty is kinda too easy for series' veterans (you can start on Hard, so that's no big deal)
- The storyline is too simplitic in comparison to other FE games (but it is still better than 90% of RPGs out there).
Conclusion:
There's no reason for FE fans or RPG/SRPG fans for not getting this game. Everything you could expect from it is there, making this game one of the DS best games and a worthy addition to an awesome series.
