i just heard that you will be able to have 16 player online for MarioKart Wii and i have a list of things i hope they fix since the online for MK DS wasn't always fun:

- in wi-fi you shouldn't just be able to leave in the middle of a game. in MK DS, i've had so many people just leave just because they were losing and they don't want too many losses on their rep. it always pissed me off when people would just turn off their DS to avoid losing. i hope that they make it so that whenever you disconnect from a game, it should be an automatic loss. too many poorsports playing the game.

- people shouldn't be able to snake. in MK DS, their were people who would snake their whole way through the raceto win. and i look at their rep and they have like 1000 wins and 50 losses. i find it really sad and pathetic that people have to cheat their way through a game just because they suck at it.

- in MK DS. there were people who would keep getting item boxes and getting a star, and then they would use it and run over me back and forth and i couldn't move until his star ran out. and he'd be letting people win. i think you should only be able to use a star to hit someone only once on that person. what i mean is that you should have a limit to one hit per person when you have a star.

thoughts? and if you're thinking that "oh, all of this is part of the game," well it isn't. i'm pretty sure that turning of your system to avoid losing isn't part of the game; snaking through the entire track to get boosts to win isn't part of game; and constantly running over the same person back and forth with a staris just cheap. The reason why these people do this is because they generally suck at the video game. i am mainly buying MKWii for its online 16 players, but if they don't fix these problems, then i probably won't buy it.

I agree. If they leave the game shouldn't just end. It should still continue.

I absolutely hate that too. It's like using all Boos in Strikers. If you master it you can PWN anyone but it's not fun. :/

Never happened to me, that's hilarious.

Whatever.... No matter what the game has in it, you'll buy it, and you should, it should be a great game. I had some of the same issues with MKDS online as well but overall it has been my favorite of any online experience so far.

Some of those things that you mentioned are hard to enforce, yes its unfair to target someone with a star so they dont win, but really... what can Nintendo do about it, its unfair but not against the rules.

I agree on the automatic loss thing if you switch it off. Thats a great idea and one they should definately implement.

Im not sure though what snaking is, im sure id agree but what is it?

I dont think they should punish you for leaving by giving you a loss, they should make a way for you to get banned for 1 full day. and give them a loss.

There is not much you can do about the first point, that pretty much happens all the time in online games.

Your other points are understandable though, I'd like to see Nintendo make this into a great multiplayer experiance.

Ok thanks for that, i've utlized that technique on corners (as its designed to be used), but nowhere else, that is a bit of an unfair advantage.

Thanks again for filling me in on that definition

People, they already punish people that leave the race early. When a person leaves the race early, they get a loss on their record for every person that is in the race and everyone in the race gets a win. So, for example, if there are four people in the race and one person leaves, they get 3 losses and each person still playing getsa win. So that is already in place. Snaking is a part of the game that is unfortuantly not going to to leave the game. Hopefully we'll be able to makelobby's like on the Xbox Live and and not allow people that snake.

I have never experienced the whole snaking thing, but I have to believe that you can stop them with some kind of item. That star thing is just silly, and I wouldnt want them to do something like that. In strikers when you quit, you automatically lose, the same will probaly apply to Mario Kart. Those arent real problems, they are mostly your problems.

I've experienced Snakers online, one guy was a Snaker the rest weren't, he won, obviously, by half a lap. The only item that can stop them is a Blue Shell however by the time that happens they're so far ahead it doesn't really help. people say "It's part of the game, learn to do it" but I say it takes the fun out of it, it takes a lot of concentration and good handwork on the controls, I'd rather not snake and have a more fun experience.

Id say the online Wii Mario Kart will probably be a lot different from the DS version. The DS version was just an added bonus that Nintendo just wanted its gamers to be able to do battle with other players. The Wii version is a much larger scale and Ninty will probably have given a lot of attention to this

I agree but here's the thing...

We've known about Mario Galaxy and SSBB for ages now and they're still not released which means Nintendo are fine combing it obvisouly making them great games right?

So why just suddenly spring MK on us it's like "Oh by the way were doing a MK Wii and it's out pretty soon cos' we've kinda half assed it" or am I just rambling? But tbh whose played a bad MK?

Not necessarily. If the wheel is a true plug in like the Nun-chuck then its possible there will be L and R buttons on the wheel.

Anyway I was never able to snake in Mario Kart but I was able too in F-Zero GX and yeah it does kind of ruin the game. What's infuriating about snakers is they say it's a skill. But you know if they created a mode where it was pure skill and no items they would complain and moan about it.

Firstly, people should be able to leave when ever they wish. Not all gamers can sit around playing video games all day. They have other commitments and so if they suddenly have to pull out of a game for any reason, then they should be able to quit. Just deduct points or wins from them. They probably wont care, and those who quit on purpose will be punished fairly. I don't agree with the user who says they should be banned for a whole day though. For reasons i've just spoke of.

Secondly, snaking is a technique. For a lot of users it can be annoying, and I agree it takes a lot of the fun out of the game. It stops me from winning races. But anyone can learn to do it, and it is encouraged in the manual. If it were an exploit or a cheat, Nintendo would have just removed powersliding from the game, or have altered it in some way. They're great developers and know what they're doing. It's definately part of the game!

As for the star tactic. It sucks when you're racing 1 on 1. Perhaps an item list could be formed for 1 on 1 races, so the player in 2nd place doesn't get all these fancy items just for being technically last. However, I don't think such rules should apply when playing 6 or more races. Why shouldn't you be able to attack some one over and over again with a Star? Mario Kart is about as much as battling each other on the track as it is about racing, so the fastest racer is not always going to win. Some racers like to hold grudges. Everyone is going to want to attack the user with the most points so it makes it easier for them to win.

As for my final thoughts on the game. I think it will be a lot of fun. 16 players on screen may make things chaotic with items being fired everywhere (seemingly at random), and so a lot of people will moan about how they lost a race because they were constantly being hit with items, while their opponents were lucky to escape unharmed. If snaking is part of Mario Kart again, its clearly going to cause fatigue. So for once people wont be snaking as often. Or they wont be playing online all day, so you wont see as many snakers online at the same time. Oh and i'm not at all fussed about the likelyness that is no microphones.

Dude, you are right and wrong at the same time. Mario Kart is a racer that has a battle mode in it. You should not be able to attack some one over and over again with a star while in an actual race. While in a battle mode this would be fine, but not while in an actual race. The biggest reason for this is that in a race you are supposed to continually move forward and not stay right next to your opponent hitting them, which is essentially what the TC was talking about.

As far as I know, the only Friend code only online Wii or DS game was Animal Crossing, and that was smart because you dont want random ppl coming into your town.

However, its the only one I can think of and doesn't make sense with any other game (like Strikers, Brawl, BWii)

I'm sure they will be the same as Strikers or Mario Kart DS

If you want Pure Racing, go pick up Forza or something man. Mario Kart has never ever been about pure racing. Its about pure fun and skill with a nice big helping of luck. Without the items and general crazyness its not mario kart.

Oh, yeah, everything is cheap these days. Snaking is cheap, Needlers are cheap, Rocket Launchers are cheap. Well you know what, it's in the game for a reason. If you can master these necessities, you can win! It's amazing! Anyone can race through a track without running into a wall. That's why snaking was invented, to win! The better snaker wins! It's not like your opponent is the only one who can snake, YOU CAN DO IT TOO! The same goes for Needlers and Rocket Launchers in Halo 2. They're considered "cheap" because they're good weapons. Well, GO FIND ONE AND USE IT! That way, you'll win the match. Your opponent isn't the only one who can use Needlers and Rockets. However, the invincibility star and infinite blue shells cheat should be taken out, because not everybody can use that. Plus, it takes the fun out of the game. So for all those people whining about snakers can shut up and learn to snake for themselves. GOOD DAY TO YOU, SIR!

Possibly, but not definately. They might be called away for a meal, attend to a child or even chore. It's not something you would stop playing all day for. But not something you could pause for either.

its when you keep drifting back and forth so that you can get boosts so that you easily get ahead of everyone. its ok to use it on turns but most "snakers" use it on straight roads just so they could win

ok...snaking through the entire track is not part of the game. its call racing, not snaking. i understand that you can use snaking on turns but not on a straight track. i bet most of you people lie and are probably people who do snake through the game and of course your going to disagree with me. some people in this thread think i'm a person who gets pissed off when ever i lose against a person. if i lost a MK match fair then i wouldn't complain. in halo 2 when someone kills me with needlers and rockets i don't care because that is part of the game, and if you know your way around rockets then thats also a part of the game. i'm the kind of person who doesn't care if i win or lose. but when i lose unfairly then yea, i'll be pissed.

ok...snaking through the entire track is not part of the game. its call racing, not snaking. i understand that you can use snaking on turns but not on a straight track. i bet most of you people lie and are probably people who do snake through the game and of course your going to disagree with me. some people in this thread think i'm a person who gets pissed off when ever i lose against a person. if i lost a MK match fair then i wouldn't complain. in halo 2 when someone kills me with needlers and rockets i don't care because that is part of the game, and if you know your way around rockets then thats also a part of the game. i'm the kind of person who doesn't care if i win or lose. but when i lose unfairly then yea, i'll be pissed.

Powersliding is the term giving to boosting through corners. Snaking is the term given to continuously powersliding left and right down straights. Like how a snake travels across the ground in a straight line. That's the difference.

I don't play the game enough to care about snaking, or play Mario Kart enough to perfect it. So i'm not going to bother lying about it. If I don't put the same effort in that other gamers do when playing online games, and I dont win. Then i'm not going to start crying about it and call it unfair.

To me, snaking is as annoying as people who jump around like crazy in online FPS games. But I don't complain (unless i'm playing badly and get angry of course). So I either try harder, or find something else to do. I don't sit around dictating how other people should play their own games, so I have a better chance of winning.

It's definately part of the game
