After some poking around I was able to find these two reivews

Metro.co.uk

In Short: A reasonable effort has been expended on this port of the semi-(GameSpot filtered this word which is the first 3 lettrs of clam and the last 4 letters of Jurassic) platformer, but it's clear the original has passed its sell-by date.

Pros:
The original was highly ambitious for the time and packs in a fair amount of variety and unusual artistic flair. New controls and camera are a definite improvement.

Cons: Despite the refinements the graphics are still very low tech and the whole game design feels equally old-fashioned and restrictive.

Score:5/10

Gamesradar

You'll love

  • Outstanding level design rewards exploration
  • 3D effect makes it feel new again
  • Memorable music and characters

You'll hate

  • It's virtually a straight port - only 3D added
  • Framerate lapses are inexcusable in a game this old
  • It's got Rayman in it. Do you like Rayman?

Score: 7 (Good)

I knew I couldn't support Ubisoft at all for quality launch titles.

WHAT THE HELL?? Rayman is awesome. Yeah that review cant exactly be taken seriously.

And as for the game not holding up, that's bull. I played the PS1 version just recently, and it's still pretty damn good. Better than most platformers released today. I can understand that point of view from a visual perspective, but gameplay? The gameplay without a doubt still holds up.

I am stick with the same situation right now. Not a big fighting fan and not sure that I want to drop $40 for a racing game especially since i am already getting pilotwings. It seems like the action genre got left out of the launch window. Each fo the games have some kind of a strike against them

I'm still holding out. If you look at the cons of both reviews you will see that their greatest real concern that isn't entirely subjective is frame rate issues. We have all known for some time that games in 3d will take a framerate hit. I am still waiting for a more thorough review from a site I have greater familiarity with before I make a final decision.

One advantage that I would have is that I never played the original Rayman 2 on any system. I played the original on Playstaion and thought it was ablast. So I am leaning toward this one slightly because it would be a new experience. Plus it seems like those who played the Dreamcast version that this is based have had nothign but good things to say about it.

Thanks for the reviews. Damnit. I was hopin atleast Rayman would come through for us... Look on the bright side though, only 3 months before LoZ launches, along with RE. Instead of looking at the launch window as a disappointment, I see it more as an extended tech. demo :P. When LoZ, Paper Mario, and other 1st party games come out, all will be forgiven!

What a positive attitude! I think I will get Rayman anyway and take advantage of TRU buy one get one 50% off deal.

i just got this game today...(also picked up nintendogs +cats golen retriever edition)

the 3d is very nice.. they try to make things pop out which pilotwings didnt really try to do...pilot wings is more about depth and i can go in there type of feel..

it does show the limits of the 3d and how far things will pop out from the screen..which is not very much but still cool...as for the game itself? its prertty cool..love me some platforming...never played a rayman game before...

people talking about ghosting and stuff... its no worse than any of the other 3d games... the trick is not to move the 3ds... you can move your head but not the 3ds.

It's got nothing to do with 3D and more to do with Ubi's shoddiness.

Well, they needed to do something. A port of an old PS2 game seemed easy enough. Shame they couldn't design a brand new Rayman just for the 3DS. Maybe next time?

the 3d is pretty sweet even though its a port but the little green goblin that flys at the screen after you touch the little icon squares is a bit much lol..
