Consoles have long been stuck with their limitations when it comes to typing. Xboxs solution to this is extremely great. You can attach a mini keyboard to it. Now I am fully aware you can buying boards for the consoles, but not many games (to my knolwedge) allow you to send chat to others, using your keyboard. This is a feature that is evident in most multiplayer pc games but not console games. (unless Im wrong? I haven't played too many games online) The advantage the Wii U has, is its touchscreen. So, it's quite simple really, no one needs to buy a keyboard for the wii u, it already has a touchscreen keyboard!

Picture this, you are playing a plc game online and you are sending messages, with your keyboard which means you don't have to use voice chat ( for whatever reason you don't want to. Or maybe you can't) Or... With your trusty virtual keyboard on the wii u, you can now do the exact same thing!! Or at least you should...

Edit: pc not plc. I'm on an iPad and it's annoying editing text at this site. Also, just like voice chat you should be able to disable it if desired.

I'm pretty sure they will implement something like that, but I doubt it'll work all that great with the touchscreen being resistive. Also the lack of feedback when typing will be rather annoying. I'd still prefer a hardware keyboard and hope it will be supported, it worked very well on Monster Hunter Tri on the Wii so I'm sure it'll be no problem on the WiiU.
