Seriously, I just got offline after playing Strikers, and I got pwnt. Badly. Some dude had his entire team be toads and his Captain be Diddy kong. All he did the entire game is pass and jump over the goalie, pass and jump over the goalie. The first game he beat me 9 to 1 (good ol' hammer bros) and the second 7 to 0. This is ridiculous. Screw hammer spamming, toads are cheaper than that. They're just so fast, that there's no way anybody on my team can keep up with them. By the end of the game I was ready to hunt down this SOB and devour his soul. Please, someone, give me advice on how to be a Toad jumper!!! i'm desperate :cry:
If you have any kind of defense it shouldn't be a problem. After a Toad jumps, tackle it. If they pass, intercept (Slide tackling, pressing A or B when the ball is near, etc)

Yeah I bet the toads just pass it when the mole tackles don't they? I have a speedy Boo on Defense and my Captain is Waluigi so I can usually stop them. But before damn them, Haziqon kept using them on me. It was horrible. But I got better.

yeah, but it gets me so pissed off when they do that. I know its a skill to be able to jump over the goalie everytime, but seriously, they could've at least made it a little harder or something. With Hammer Bros. it takes a lot of timing to decide when to do the deke, and even then you have to drive it all the way up the court then do a fully charged shot to get a goal. With the toads all you have to do is zip by the D then jump the goalie. It's a lot easier to score using toads
Wow get someone fast and put him behind the goalie.. toad spammers never get me with that cuz when they jump over my Kritter, WaLuigi is there for the slide tackle.
Well let me ask you this? how many hammer bros are on your team? do you have three hammer bros, so that you can deke cheese, or even two hammer bros? because that is the reason you couldnt keep up. I know I once played some guy with three hammer bros, I did nothing but the toad deke because he was trying to hammer spam me.

No, don't worry hammer spammers are very easy to stop. Just don't get too far or too close to them. All you need is one fast person to stop the annoying little toads and most of them time the goalie slaps them when the toad tries to jump over it.

I don't really consider hammer spammers, teleporters, or any other character specific move to be strategic.It's really cheap and it gets on my nerves. At the same time, yeah it's part of the game, so you have to be able to handle any and every opponent you might face. Of course I'd much rather face someone whose strategy is based on their pattern of passing, charging, and shooting, not BS dekes and such. As far as your defense goes...yea the slow guys with great shots won't serve you well. I've found that while the mole, hammer bros, and birdo have ridiculous shots, they're a defensive liability that I personally can't afford. Mid-speed to fast players are all I've got so that keeping the ball out of the other person's hands is easier to do.

It just means your good at nothing too. If you have a few defense, some power, offense, in your team it can easily balance itself as well but you get the benefits each one bring to the table.
My problems with hammer spammers, goalieteleporters/deker's, and especially lob pass spammers, is that they make the game boring. Its not like they are impossible to stop or something, its just lame to play a game where the opponent just keeps doing the same thing over and over.
Hey! Toad jumping rocks. You need a Dry bones on your team and a Toad yourself. If you didn't know, Toad's jump is his deke move. Just get close to the goal and jump. The timing is tricky and sometimes the goalie will destroy you no matter how well you timed it, but it just takes some getting used to.

My thought is that you should find a way to beat him. Either beat him at his own game, or adjust your team so that you can more readily adapt to taking down toad jumpers. The trick is being prepared for a cheap opponent before you actually face one. That way you don't lose, get mad, and blame it on the game or your opponent's cheap tactics.

No!!! It's a little discouraging to hear everybody saying "I only do it when..." or "I don't mind ______ 'cause I can stop them, but I hate..." What you're saying is "I hate anybody that I can't stop" and "Yea, it's cheap but he was being cheap so I did it too." Nobody likes losing, I know, but as soon as you use the tactics of a cheap bastard, you are officially a cheap bastard.
Oh, and btw, lob passing just to keep the ball away is annoying and cheap. Lob passing to set up goals and to keep the ball from being intercepted via ground passing is an essential part of the game.
My team consists of, Luigi, then on the sides in offence are Shy Guy and Birdo, back in Defence I have Dry Bones. Nothing Get's past Birdo or Dry Bones, Toad Jumpers don't even get a chance.
Me I'm a toad jumper but I only have one toad and He's in defence, I also have a Hammer Bro but I use him for his great shooting and passing and the spamming move once in a while so I can get rid of an opponent, to me that's fine as long as you don't spam. Like yesterday it was sudden death online match 4 gone 0-0 nobody could score in the end I won with a toad jump because I was able to get into space and time it right and that's fair to me. Just like snaking.
So from now on, no one is allowed to actually play when they face anyone online. All you can do is hold the ball and wait for the other team to steal it. Then you must steal it back. There is no shooting and there is no passing. That makes it fair since apparently every move in the game is "cheap."

Oh no...you can do whatever move you want. I may think it's cheap, but I couldn't call myself a skilled player if I couldn't stop the bs moves. It's all the more satisfying to beat a hammer spammer or a toad jumper. Mmmmmmm.....

if you play the CPU in the striker cup, the CPU does all these tactics also... so you can't call it cheep it's only cheep if you don't have the ability to do the exact same thing..

Boo deke > Toad deke. Fact. I am surprised that Toad is actually still being used online, seeing as Boo is potentially more dangerous and beneficial. I love him so much, I have 2 Boos on my team! But, if you are getting beat by Toad jumpers, grab a fast character and stand behind the goal if you can before he pulls the move off. Easy counter. As for the Boo deke...unstoppable!
What makes the Toad deke so effective is the fact that you can pass the ball while doing it. Soright beforethe goalie rams a jumping Toad, the player can pass it to another character for the shot. I've actually found this to be much better than doing the deke alone.
Lob passing is basically my game.. idk about anyone else..
Lob passing doesn't annoy me so much, because all you have to do is take out the player before he recieves the ball. It's the goalie dekers (Boos, toad, etc.) that really annoy me. Maybe I'll change out my mole on D for a Dry bones or something...
