I'm responsible for most of the punch out threads so id say I'm pretty excited. It just seems that discussion about it gets lost really quick since there are a lot of zelda and conduit topics that usually get more attention.
I'm very excited about Punch Out Wii because no other game has topped the original NES Punch Out as the best boxing game. I feel sorry for the people who didn't grow up with the NES Punch Out and hesitate to download it on VC for being "outdated". That game had a very good balance of difficulty from ridiculously easy opponents to extremely difficult ones. Literally anyone can enjoy the game.

My sentiments exactly. Most games in recent times it's been "oh, that looks good, I'm gonna get that". This one, however... every single time I see a video of it, I become even more unable to wait any longer.
I'm glad to see so much anticipation. Sorry for saying that there are no topics about it. I haven't been on in a while and I didn't want to look around for one.
Looks like fun. But for now, I'm waiting to get too excited for it. I've never actually played the first two games, but they seem like a lot of fun, and so does this. But those are a lot cheaper than those are going to be, and I'm not completely convinced that this will be worth the extra money when I could just get new (for me) experiences for cheaper. I hope that it does seem worth it in the end though, because it would mean that I have one more must-buy game for the Wii. :)
I am so not excited about a Wii-make of a snes game!! They could have spent their time on a F-Zero instead!!!!!

It's not a remake, and the gameplay is closer to the NES game than the SNES game. You could just as easily call New Super Mario Bros. a remake of Super Mario Bros. 3. They have similar gameplay, but they're very different games.

You just comletely misread that guy's post. He said that HE was the only person excited for Punch-Out rather than the TC. You can also choose to not use motion controls and just have the wii-mote sideways classic NES style.

And this is my most anticipated game EVER! I wasn't even this excited about Twilight Princess! And I was pretty darn excited about that game, let me tell you.

OMG my bad! I thought he said no as in hes not. lol my bad. Anyways, I feel like I want to use motion controls. I bought the Wii for innovation. Where is it? I'm still gonna wait to hear what this game will get and then I'll see if its worth my time.
Ya know what never mind. I want it now. I just read the review on NP magazine. They gave it an 8.5 saying its a great game. The only flaws that they said that I could deal with are that the multiplayer is not as good as single-player(thats fine for me since no one would want to play this with me anyways) and the balance board was nearly unworkable. I guess I don't have to get the balance board then.
I'm very sad to say I never liked that game in the arcade. I never liked it on NES and I never played it on SNES. :( It's just not my thing. I had friends that dropped quarter after quarter into that machine for hours on end. I never thought the NES captured the game nearly as good as it was in the arcades. I was stuck on Mrs Pac Man, DK Jr and Tetris in those days. dunno I might grab it, however I'm scared it will just bring back old memories of 'meh'

They have similar gameplay, but they're very different games. I know what you are saying but NSMB and SMB3 is not an example. They are very different games, much more separate than Punch-Out!! Wii is to Punch Out on the NES. Punch-Out!! may not be a remake but its understandable why people are saying it is.
I'm getting it no matter what. I don't care what the critics say, especially since this is a Wii game.

well so far the critics are liking it and its gotten pretty good reviews, but im with you when i say I would have liked the game no matter what anyone else says.

I agree that i would love to see an F-Zero game but Punch out is not a Wii-make. According to Nintendo Power they mostly ignored the SNES version and stuck with the original NES version for inspiration. This game is gonna be awesome!
I'm definitely gonna be all over this game. Anyone in the NYC area gonna go to the Nintendo store tomorrow for the tournament and to pickthe gameup early?
