I have to say I haven't actually played any game in the ssb series (I've tried a little bit on ssbm but that was like 5 min). I'm wondering if ssbb is worth getting when it comes out because of the hype but for what I know it's mainly a multiplayer game and I don't play multiplayer that often. So I just wanna know what's so special about ssb and if it is worth my attenttion from a singleplayer perspective.
Yes, you're probably the only one not hyped for this game, most likely because you haven't been following the game. This game isn't mainly a multiplayer game, it's mainly a single-player game. Of course eventually you're going to get tired of it so multiplayer is always there to keep it fresh, AS A SECONDARY thing.
i never really liked smash bros. im not excited to get it at all, but ill most likely still buy it because at the time there wont be much else to play.
I wouldn't say "not hyped" about it, but I'm definitely not giddy--I plan on getting it, but I'm looking forward to Madden 08 more than any other game,then it would be Super mario galaxy. After that, I really don't know. I'd say it's probably about my 4th or 5th hyped game.

As you haven't played Melee, it's hard not to think Brawl wouldn't be worthwhile. What sucks the hype out of me is the lack of sense that this will be much of an improvement over Melee.
I didnt have a gamecube so I really wasnt all that excited about this game... once I found out that MP3 wasnt online I then changed my next big purchase to this game... so up till a couple days ago I wasnt hyped at all but now Im starting to get there.

Since the only one making an effort to explain the awsomeness of ssb sound like ^ I have to say I've given up my plans on even trying it out.
I dont have a wii yet but like you i havent played SSBM for more then maybe 5 minutes (well actually about 1/2 hour) but im not really hyped for this game ill get it like in a year maybe. cause there are like4 games i want when i get my wii this holiday season and those are Super Paper Mario, Zelda TP, Metroid Prime 3, Super Mario Galaxy (if it comes out) if it doesnt ill probably get No More heroes or dewys adventure (which ever one is better)

nope just never got into SSBM im gonna get Brawl though just not right away, all my friends have melee and i havent go it yet so im just gonna wait for brawl no point buying melee and then getting brawl for 50 bucks

I myself wasn't going to get it until Snake was anounced.
It'll be fun, thats for sure, but it doesn't look like it's to different from Melee.

You said the answer to your question yourself, You are not into multiplayer games that much. and SSBB is a Multiplayer centered game. I guess it just means that it isn't for you.
The single player will probably be just like the other two: fun, but won't last very long, then You'll call a friend over to play it so ucan kick his ass.
You'll enjoy the game only if u have people to play it with. plus its online. so I guess U can play multiplayer all the time.
