i can almost guarantee if you borrowed somebody's original ds now, you would not like it for one very important reason....screen brightness. while you're complaining about aesthetic aspects of the ds lite, you are not mentioning the more important, playability aspects of it. the old ds screens are just too dark and don't do games justice. play metroid (or any game, for that matter) on the original ds and then play on the lite and tell me which version you prefer.agrippi
I have the lite on the lowest brightness level so I don't have to charge it as much lol
I have to agree I like the old DS better. The screen brightness thing isn't that big a deal if you're keeping your Lite on its lowest settings (save the batteries! They're like whales... only more... electric). Also... I don't like how GBA games stick out of the Lite... makes it hard to have a GBA game in there and then shove the thing into your pocket.Spiruru
they stick out? That's weak...

I just want to echo agrippi's sentiments - when I first turned on my DS Lite after upgrading I was amazed at the brightness, it's much more impressive than the original DS model and shows of the quality of the titles much better.
I recently played on a friends DS, which is the original model, and was actually amazed at how much duller it was! It is a significant difference I assure you, especially if you're used to the DS lite like I am now.
Also, I think the DS lite is just miles better than the original in terms of design. I remember pulling the Lite out of its packaging and just being amazed at how much more sleek and compact it was. Again, going back to the original DS model was quite shocking how bulky and ugly it was.
DS Lite all the way, by a long shot!

well its not like the originals fat @ss can fit in ur pocket, plus who buys a ds just to play gba games, you can't system link on either one so it's a bonus, and i believe 20 millions people can agree

me 2 lol :D
Dudes And Dudettes, There's really nothing to argue about because if you play the DS Lite on it's lowest lighting setting your basically playing the original DS except without all of it's portability problems and annoyances

yea the screen brightness would probably be the same but but but. The ds lite lasts much much longer!
I don't have a DS Lite yet, but I still like my original DS. I'm going to wait to make 100% sure I don't get a Lite with a cracked hinge before I get the upgrade.mac906
cracked hinge? that doesn't sound too good.
i like the ds phat better partly cuz i'm used to it, but also because i like the button placement.
i like that it's bigger cuz i get enough hand cramps as it is
Apparently.. I have freakishly large pockets. >.>
Is this a medical condition?
In seriousness, I will say that the DS Lite is easier on the hands. I get these wierd cramps or pins and needles sensations when I play the large one too long... kind of like holding one of those old X-Box controllers too long... hey I'm not saying the Lite is useless (as mentioned... 20 Million people can't be wrong). I just prefer the old one myself, having played both. As for the GBA games... there's a good library there and I personally get all giddy when I can have two Final Fantasy games in the same console... its like Christmas... only more... sequelly x.x"
Don't even get me started when I have Dawn of Souls and FF3 in there... >.>
over the DS lite? I used to own the DS, got it when it first came out then a few months later ran into money problems and had to sell it. This past Thursday I picked up a new DS lite and personally so far I like the original model better. I particularly don't like the shiny outter shell for the DS now, it shows fingerprints way too much imo, also get the feeling it's going to show skratches or get them pretty easily. That and it feels a little less durable but I can't say for sure if it is or not, just feels that way. Other than that, I'm fine with it lol.kidrock17xp
maybe you miss you old ds...
