American DS games vs. English DS games

I have come to london to visit withsome family for about a month and i brought my ds. I know tha major consoles like the xbox and ps1,2 and three in america wont play british games but because a ds is handheld i was wondering if british games will work on my american ds, thanks in advance for those who choose to responde

I think the title is referring to countries, as 'American' isn't a language.
