I think this was posted either yesterday or the day before so there's others that share your point of view.

Except for the fact that the Wii can't handle Oblivion. Just because it can run the game's engine doesn't mean it can run the game. Engines are built to be very flexible. If a game was built for the Wii using the Gamebryo engine, it will still look like a Wii game. It isn't going to look like Oblivion. It's simply not possible.

No that does not mean Oblivion can run on the Wii. This is just the core engine. It DOES mean that dev time for Wii games will be reduced significantly for those who choose to use it.

great to see middle ware guys taking notice of wii. hopefully itll mean less devs use last gen engines and tech not made for wii (eg UE2 xbox1 version).

however....no oblivion is not possible on wii in its current state because of this. the engine is just software that keeps the game ticking over (very basically). theres still things like texture size, gemoetry data levels, numbers of guys on screen, shaders, physics and so on and so on. game byro is still bound by the hardware it runs on.

arguable it would make a port of oblivion to wii a little bit easier but the devs would still need to redoo a crap load of the game (eg, all the artwork would need to be redone to fit in wiis ram and the use of shaders would need to be completly redone, draw distance would need to be greatly reduced). so i wouldnt get my hopes up on an oblivion port because of this news.
