alright. animal crossing is a game in which you, the only human, buy a house in a new town.  this town is inhabited by many talking animals. you go throughout your days conversing with your "animal buddies" and buying new stuff for you house. you can fish and catch butterflies, and all different stuff.  the cool thing about the game is that it keeps playing even if the game isn't turned on. therefore, you could stop playing for a month and have a ton of grass growing in front of your house and some of your neighbors may have moved away.

Plus you can interact with friends over wifi. In the first one, you went to other friends towns by Memory Cards. Then in the DS, you went to a friends town over WiFi. You can do the same thing in Animal Crossing: City Folk, but you can now talk to friends.
