im thinking of getting animal crossing, but im kinda skeptical on the gameplay. ive never played animal crossing before and ive read reviews on it and it seems like the "mundane" gameplay actually works really well, but i would like to get some opinions from some other animal crossing players. so, my question is: does the gameplay work out really well? do you find yourself coming back to it everyday? if so, how many minutes/hours do you play of it everyday?

I play most every day around 3 hours. I dunno what makes the gameplay so addictive. Maybe it's just the many objectives, for example:

pay off all mortgages (main goal)
get all the furniture in a set (fun to do and boosts your HRA point total)
become great friends with your neighbors (and maybe even get their picture, a sign of true friendship)
upgrade nook's place to the maximun (doesn't take that long)
become rich (don't plan 100 foreign fruit trees and get rich in a day
get a lot of K.K. Slider songs (they sound really good!)
get a perfect town (have the emost beautiful town imaginable)
fill the museum

All those should keep you busy for a while!

I play it for about 45 minutes to an hour and half every day I guess. Yes it works really well, it does feel like work a little but it's laid back work. Very addicting and very fun for some odd reason.

I say you get it, sometimes the game feels like work and other times its very soothing and addicting. I'v been playing for over a year now and I still love it, though my sister kinda deleted my town a couple of weeks ago, and I lost everything, damn it. I dont play everyday, and I usually dont play for over 30 minutes if I do, though If I get into something like paying of the morgage or redesigning my town I can play for a couple hours. It is a very good game if you like that sort of thing.

If I were you I would buy the one for the GC (assuming you have one) I checked my mail  everday for maybe over a year and it is alot better than the one for the DS because you can get chores when ever you want that way you always have something to do

READ ME: I was like you, and I was excited about Animal Crossing, but, when I got it, after a few days it was mehhh... the aim of the game is to see how long you can last before getting bored, really. Though I might pick it up again, it's far from being my favourite ds game.. there are better ones out there.

I was going thought the same thoughts as u were before i went to get animal crossing.. which was about 9 months ago. and could tell u.. i didn't regret of getting this game. Most of the ds games i got. i eneded up traded back to game stores for credits. but this was 1 of the games I bought along with my ds lite and this is the only game i didn't end up bring back to the game store to trade back for credits.

I'm sorry to have to point this out, the reason people post on a forum is so that people read what they typed. Hence, there's no need for the "READ ME:", well except that it's just kinda funny that you put it there at all. Not being mean honestly, I just got a kick out of reading post and then all of the sudden coming across an all caps "READ ME:". It was to odd to not say anything.

I have animal crossing and it is a wonderful game... i reccomend it.. in the beginning it seems really boring but stick with it after the whole tom nook thing and it is so much fun.... you can play for hours making friends, fishing, bug catching and the real time gameplay is amazing... and holidays are sooooo much fun.

All right, I say get it as well. At one point, I thought it was a weird game, then I played it on my cousin's DS and I couldn't put it down. I bought it, and I've played it since. It's so addicting and you've gotta play every day or risk missing something important.

Its decent, but I would stick with the console version if you really want to play animal crossing. I didnt find the DS version as good.

I love the DS version, but City Folk is amazing!
