Ok I'm not going to lie, if a question like this was already posted I'm really sorry but I'm too lazy to use the search function.

(If you want to skip the text: Are there any DS cases that are more protective than the images below? Only cases where the buttons are fully accessible.)

Anywho... I usually have badluck with dust and my handheld gaming consoles. On my DS phat (which I've had since launch) I have a build up of dust under my screen top screen. I was contemplating buying a new DS but didn't want to shell out $100+ to fix something that was only noticeable in direct sunlight (the dust was virtually invisible indoors due to the backlight).

I was hoping that since I usually keep my consoles exposed to the elements (and my pocket) that the dust/lint built up over time. These are the cases I've been looking into in order to minimize the effects that dust/lint would have on the console (especially during times were I wouldn't be able to play and it would just sit.. and sit.. and sit.. in one spot and collect more.. and more.. and more dust)

Basically, I want to preserve my 3DS screen since its more sophisticated and I don't want to mess up or decrease my gaming experience in any way (or shell out more money)!

I've been looking into thishttp://www.amazon.com/Nintendo-3DS-Metal-Case/dp/B004MKN3XU/ref=sr_1_8?s=videogames&ie=UTF8&qid=1299970476&sr=1-8

and I have also been looking into this casehttp://www.amazon.com/Nintendo-3DS-Crystal-Case/dp/B004MKN3W6/ref=sr_1_15?s=videogames&ie=UTF8&qid=1299970532&sr=1-15

Ill be getting the nerf cases as usual although none of the cases actually protect the system. But at least it will eliminate the smudges on the backs and tops of the console.

In past experience, if you have one of those plastic transparent cases and you drop the ds, the ds is still gonna break. If you use a nerf case, once it hits the floor, the DS will jump out of the case (no joke) but you still have to worry about when it falls for the second time once it comes out of the nerf case. At least the drop will be softened but it does not 100 percent eliminate the break.

The nerf case makes the console a lil bit bigger in size but that's really not important since no one puts their ds's in their pocket anyway (It does feel good to hold on to plus it looks good). thats the best place to break it at. not to mention things sweat when in your pocket.

Nothing has been released yet so it's difficult to say. When it comes to buying a case, I usually go with a padded, zip-up case which will protect my DS from being smashed while in my bag or if I drop it. These types of cases are generally nice because they include storage places for accessories and games. I don't like the type of cases you are looking at because there is no padding and it doesn't seem like they would add much protection against pressure from being in a backpack or something like that. The case I've ordered is this one: http://www.play-asia.com/Hard_Pouch_3DS_Red/paOS-13-71-18g-49-en-70-439s.html

I really liked my DS Lite case, but I sold it with the Lite (to go towards the price of the 3DS). So far I haven't found one similar to my old one, but when I do, that's what I'll end up buying. It's a standard soft case that holds the DS and then the upper portion has a mesh barrier for games, stylus, ect, and officially licensed by Nintendo. Zipper goes around 3 sides (top, left and right side). Oh yeah, and it had one of those little LCD cleaning cloths attached to it.

Only accessory I've purchased so far is the Hori screen protectors.

I was looking at that just now, but isn't that one of the 'hard' cases? Mine was clothy on the outside.

Mine was more like this one
http://www.play-asia.com/Compact_Pouch_3DS_Black/paOS-13-71-18g-49-en-70-439t.html
but this one doesn't have the mesh upper compartment, which was one of my favorite things about mine. This one I linked just has spaces for 3 3/DS games.

Yeah, it's hard but I think it's cloth on the inside. It's not like the hard cases the OP is talking about.

http://www.play-asia.com/Compact_Pouch_3DS_Black/paOS-13-71-18g-49-en-70-439t.html This is the soft version of the case. I like the protection that the hard shell provides.

Sorry about not responding was at work yesterday. It doesn't necessarily need to be "hard" it can be soft too. I was just looking for a case that would mainly protect my unit from dust.

I think some gamestops are already selling accesories and cases, or at least the one I was at, and I bought a pack. The case I bought was more of a travel case that would protect it, but can't really be used while playing. I saw look around and see if any others are selling them already so you can see in person

Theres a bundle from gamestop if you are getting SSFIV that consists of the game, 3DS, and a bonus which is a case. The case holds the 3DS and can hold 2 games.

I saw some cool little attachment that goes on the bottom of your 3DS that gives it little controller-like "arms" so it'll be more comfortable to hold. I've only seen it in Japan, so hopefully it comes to the States.
