Outside of the Tales Of The Abyss PS2 port, there aren't any Action RPGs on the 3DS currently. There aren't very many original RPGs on the system yet in general. You'll have to wait abit.

Is not RPG.

I'd certainly call it an action-RPG.

What part of it is remotely RPG like? You might as well call Assassin's Creed an RPG

You assume the role of a character, venture on a quest, commit time to side quest, look for treasure, and upgrade your character--some of which are optional.

I don't generally get into this debate, but frankly, no experience, no leveling, no RPG. Otherwise, Tales of the Abyss and Heroes of Ruin next month.

But you do level, in a sense. Given the Zelda, you gather hearts, increase magic, and collect more bottles. As silly as that sounds, it is a form of leveling, seeing as it makes you more powerful.

Tales of the Abyss is a great RPG. I just finished my first playthrough and logged around 65 hours without completing most of the side quests. It has a great battle system and story!

In a very basic sense, sure. But you don't increase your stats by levelling, you increase them by collecting items(heart pieces, new swords, armored tunics) or progressing the story. It's the kind of character progression you expect from adventure games, rather than RPGs. With RPGs, you get a new sword every 5 minutes, and only 10% of them are worth using. Same with armor and other equipment. Your health and other stats increase with your level rather than your story progress or completion. In Zelda, the only stats that improve are health, strength(new swords) and defense(armored tunics). And those only ever increase three times each(admittedly, I haven't played a console Zelda since OoT and a handheld since Minish Cap, so I don't know if the formula has evolved since then).

Frankly, as far as the 3DS goes, Samurai Warriors Chronicles is more of an ARPG than Zelda.

I would agree Samurai Warrior Chronicles is more of an RPG than OoT, either way SWC is a great and extremely underrated game. OoT is great fun too, but it is an action adventure game. I don't consider games RPGs unless you level up, and based on the argument made about collecting hearts etc, well **** everything is an RPG then!

Except for the side quest part, your description also fits for God of War, Metroid, Castlevania (even has levelling!), Bayonetta, Prince of Persia, Okami, No More Heroes, The Darkness, inFamous, Assassin's Creed, and on and on.

Couldn't have said it better myself. I've got more time invested in SWC than any other game on my 3DS.
