I cannot stress this enough, One of the best NES games up there with super mario bros and zelda. Its a game about boxing, humor, a trainer that looks like carl winslow from family matters, lovely stereotypes, and tests your reflexes to the hardcore.

The World circuit is the last champ before fighting Mr. Dream. Good luck for Mr. Sandman and Super Macho Man. These 2 are really pain.

My favorite boxers are Don Flamanco and Soda Popinski.

Oh my god! It's out on Virtual Console?! Darn if only I had my Wii on weekdays! I agree with topic creator, one of the greatest NES games ever. Me and my pop use to play that all the time!

I agree. This is one of the most fun games ever created. This is my favorite NES game. I'd take it over Super Mario Bros or Zelda any day. You shouldn't call yourself a Nintendo fan if you've never played this game. $5 is a steal for this game.

So, is the basically "Mike Tyson punchout" with a different final fighter (Mr. Dream) or is this a different version of MTP ?  Is Mr Dream much different from tyson ?

It's one of my favorite games of all time.  I owned it when it was Mike Tysoon's Punchout.

Same guy just different pixels

They didn't change it because of Tyson's legal matters either. It's because Nintendo's license ran out and since Tyson wasn't champion anymore they didn't renew it.

While it's not the "exact" classic it's totally worth of spending 500 points

all I remember is that Mike Tyson's Punch Out seemed to be a puch left-punch right affair....not too much depth. Apparently people are freaking out over this one though....I'll have to look into it

Already have Punch-Out! and Super Punch-Out! for the Gamecube. It's good for Wii fans that didn't have a Gamecube, but most serious Cubers have had these games for years.

This game is rated an 8.0 for being just right in terms of difficulty and emulation.  Apparently HDTV lag will affect this game though, else it probably would have recieved upwards of a 9 (gotta think about who's reviewing).

Punch-out really is on par with Contra and Ninja Gaiden as far as third party classics that every fan should own.  Great control, a fair chance at winning, and one of the best uses of Mario ever combine to make Little Mac the quintessential hero for the ages, even if the last fighter is palette swapped with the man we know and love,
