I doubt the new Pokemon games would get a 9.5. I think they have the potential to be the best Pokemon games ever since wifi trading and battling is now possible but I just don't beleive the Gamespot reviewers will give it that high of a score. I wouldn't be surprised really if it only got an 8.6 or so, not that it deserves that score, just that Gamespot is known to have somewhat biased reviews. I could be wrong, and I'm not saying Gamespot has some sort of conspiracy to rate Nintendo games lower than if it was from Sony or Mircrosoft, thats just what I feel will happen, no matter how much I wish it wasn't so.

I agree with him^ Gamespot has always been a little biased. Gave Zelda TP an 8.8 when everyone else was like 9.5 or above. They will probably give it like and 8.5-8.8.

i agree with kingkade712, but i also have to go w/ my opinion even though i dont want them to get a low score, they're gonna get it, i mean they should just get a 10 even though it is pokemon, its a great game ad it deserves what it deserves

To the people who claim the Gamespot reviewers are biased against Nintendo games. It's due to lack of originality. Yes, the games are fun. Yes, they play somewhat differently. But they are still nearly identical in the way they play out as every one before them. They get docked points for being the same thing (just like EVERY other game does when it's accused of this). Pokemon most likely won't get higher than a nine, because it will still be exactly the same pokemon game with some new pokemon. And I'll buy it anyway. If you spent time reading reviews, you'd read the parts where they say that they're disappointed Nintendo didn't really do anything to try to set it apart or upgrade it from the games' past versions.

If you look at the breakdown of their scores, you start to see some trends for most DS games. For a game to score so highly it would have to have gameplay, graphics, sound design, and replay value (or reduced price), that are all remarkable for the platform. So far, you have a few games that scored a 10 in one or more of these categories, but at the expense of other categories (e.g. the graphics and sound of Advance Wars).

As others have written, the only thing I see on the horizon that has a chance is probably Zelda: Phantom Hourglass, but who knows how it will actually turn out.

well...most of GS editors are DS hatters o-o so that may be why they dont rate a DS game over 9.0 >->

Maybe it's a little like movies...that is if you look at the biggest movie review site, IMDB- there's just a handful of movies that even get a 9-like the Godfather i think was one of course- but if GS starts rating games higher just to please fans of the game then there doesn't leave alot of room for improvement. Also a game that might get a higher score on another platform than the DS probably does so because of the greater capabilities of that platform. As great as the DS is it doesn't handle sports games for instance as well as consoles so it makes sense that the same game on the DS will not get quite as high of a score.

^^^When was the last time you even saw a sports game on the DS? I agree that reviewers have to think about each systems capabilities when they review a game, it just seems to me that they are extra harsh when reviewing Nintendo games. Maybe thats the Nintendo fanboy in me but thats just how it seems. And I hate the fact they always say, "Its just the same basic formula", which they used not only for Pokemon Emerald but for Twilight Princess as well. I can understand why they say this, because yes sometimes th formula gets repititive.  But what pisses me off is when they say this, and then go right around and give the new edition of Madden or NCAA a 9.0 and up. I mean really, what is up with that? At least the places and items are different in each new pokemon or zelda game.

Are you serious? C'mon its gamespot we're talking about here... They give nines once in a blue moon. Pokemon won't get a nine eventhough it will be the best pokemon game ever made. It would get a nine only if everyone (young and old) was playing pokemon these days.

Yeah but that isn't necessarily a bad thing
