Anyone Against Super Mario Galaxy 2?

is anyone here personally against aSuper Mario Galaxy 2 idea...

of all people, i loved the first one ... but it would just not feel the same if they made a mario sequel reusing their last idea. personally, i would think that would be a lack of creativity... either that or it is too soon for a mario sequel. if you really think about it, nintendo never did that with previous mario games for consoles. there was no direct sequel for mario 64 or mario sunshine.... having a sequel still with the outer space idea would be sorta lazy i think

Just because it's a sequel it doesn't mean it will be a rehash. Actually, how can you rehash Galaxy? The mechanics pretty much forces the designer to come up with more and more ideas. Not to mention many things can be changed/added, like power ups, to allow new kind of levels.

Galaxy is such a fresh idea, I'd like it to be turned into a trilogy a la Super Mario Bros. As long as each entry has its own share of unique content, of course.

The first game, Nintendo should do all there other franchises before making sequels to franchises that already came to the wii -_-

Have you ever considered that it's just called Super Mario Galaxy 2 because it's a temporary name? Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm just comparing this situation to Mario 128 (which seemed like a sequel to 64, but later became Galaxy).mkDSpro63

Well, Miyamoto said he would like to make Galaxy 2. Not "a new Mario", but "Galaxy 2".

not to be negative, I've learned that any game CAN go downhill. I'm not saying it will but I'd be careful and not get hopes up- assuming it does it happen.

I really liked the game. There were just a few things that bugged me about it...

I really liked the platforming elements of the game. The game was really fun, but each little galaxy just didn't hold a place in my heart like in SM64 or SMS. Each "mission" in each galaxy just opened a portion of the whole level so it was really hard to get a grasp of what the whole level was supposed to be like. In SM64 and SMS the entire level was open and you could explore the whole level any time you wanted to. SMG just seemed really restricting in where it let you explore.

The second isn't a thing that bugged me about the game, but if they come out with SMG2 it'll bug me. Each Super Mario game for the consoles has been original. SM64 was a straight platformer (and a damn good one at that) and SMS added the FLUDD to the game. Some people didn't like it, I didn't mind it, but at least it added something new. That and it was a tropical theme throughout the game. SMG was a space theme throughout the game and it played with gravity a whole lot. But if SMG2 comes out, where will the creativity be? They've already done a game that plays with gravity! We want something new and original!

We all know that they're making a new Mario game. I just hope they make another game that was as original as all of the others and not try to cash in on SMG's success.

Im pretty sure they only said that the Mario and Zelda teams were busy. For all you guys know they could be making a New Super Mario Bros. 2

All this speculation is just going to lead to more dissapointment and angry fans *facepalm*

I wouldn't mind if the graphics and formula didn't change a bit in SMG2. Super Mario Galaxy was so great that all I want are some more levels - I was sad when the game finally ended after 242 stars. :(dmil1991

I think the concept of galaxy is something that could easily be expanded upon, and thus a galaxy 2 might be a good idea.

And i think it's going to happen too. Remember, Nintendo wants to get two 3D Mario's on this system, and they couldn't do that if they started completely from scratch.

Do people really think that if Nintendo made Galaxy 2 it'll be SMG just with new levels??C'mon give ninty more credit than that..Theres tons of stuff they could do to make it different..

As much as I did love Galaxy I want to play something like I've never seen before. The concept and design of Galaxy was pure genius. Who knew Mario was so super that he could breathe in space without a space helmet this time? But yeah, I want something completely new. Knowing me though I'd probably still buy Mario Galaxy 2. One reason why I think they won't create a Galaxy 2 is because the game was concluded at the end. There isn't much to go on once you beat the game, unless next time you explore the life of Rosalina or something. The end didn't even leave hints of a sequel, like the Metroid games did.

They should definitely bring back the other suits from Super Mario Bros. 3. Mario would look so cool in those. All time favorite had to be the sparkling black hammer bros suit. Kabuki, Hammer Bros, Frog and Raccoon suit!!!!!

Yeah, I think both of your points are quite valid.
I think a direct sequel would be stupid, and they've never really done that with a console mario before, have they?
Look at the second poster's signature (Evolution or Intelligent Design?)
With each new console Mario there's been some new idea or concept that made it original and creative in its own right
And it's always been fun.

Personally I loved Galaxy
But I missed the wide open 3-D spaces of Mario 64 and Sunshine
And I would like to see them back
But much like everything else that will inevitably end up in this topic
That's just my opinion

Anyway, my point is...
I don't think they'll do Galaxy 2
It wouldn't be like them, and I say that because they've never done anything like that before

I would also rather wait and have a great original game with the creativity level of 64, Sunshine, and Galaxy
Than have them rush to put out another Mario
And hear people on these forums whine about what a "dissapointment" it was.
