Thanks kidrock17xp but the last thing I've wanted to do in my Wii search was ask someone else to do it for me. I'm visiting my Mom in Louisiana over the Thanksgiving holidays and am considering looking down there for one. Maybe the lower population density means more stock....? At least that's whhat I'm considering at the moment.
zenszulu, can you recommend any places to order a Wii online? I know that stores like Target, Best Buy, Circuit City, Toys 'R Us, GameStop, Wal Mart, Kmart, and Amazon won't even let you click a "buy" button for a Wii, except for the few places selling 500 or 600 dollar bundles with games I'd end up sticking in a shoebox or selling at GameStop for 1% what paid for them.
I've got one, but I do know my boss is looking to sell his. He's got the Wii, an extra Wii-Mote, nunchuck, Wii Sports, and an extra game ( he doesn't know which title off the top of his head ).
If you're interested, let me know how much you're willing to pay via PM or something and maybe he would work something out for you.
Boy do I feel like a salesman ... LOL ...

well since I live in the UK i can't really say any good places to do it otehr than where I got mine from but that wouldn't really help you since it's only a UK site I got mine from.
Some people, myself included, might suggest to you rzkp78 that having to stand outside of random chain storers at random times hoping for a mythical shipment of Wiis that 99 times out of 100 doesn't even exist is beyond absurd for a console that has been out for a year now. Soccer Moms and Grandothers can do that crap, real people with real lives (i.e., jobs) can't possibly do that.
I do know this one thing for sure: *IF* Ninteno is manufacturing this shortage and the resulting demand, the proof of that will come out eventually, and when it does they can kiss a huge chunk of those profits goobye to the lawyers and courts and fines they're going to face in many countries, including the US, for a whole host of unethical business practices, not least of which is manipulation of their own stock values. And *IF* that proof does eventually come out, all that goodwill they've built up with gamers and potential gamers will vanish like a drop of muddy water on hot asphalt, instantaneously and with a nasty residue left behind. Enjoy your day in the sun Nintendo, because I for one would not be surprised in the least to see it come to a crashing halt.
What a load of crap! Nintendo isn't making up production numbers, and they aren't making up sales numbers. There's no significant discrepancy between the amount of Wiis Nintendo says they've shipped and the amount of Wiis retailers have said they've sold. Do you think Nintendo is leaning on retailers to get them to lie about how many Wiis they're selling? They aren't falsifying shareholder reports. Their stock value is rising because they're raking in profits, profits they wouldn't have if they were lying about how many Wiis they were selling.I do know this one thing for sure: *IF* Ninteno is manufacturing this shortage and the resulting demand, the proof of that will come out eventually, and when it does they can kiss a huge chunk of those profits goobye to the lawyers and courts and fines they're going to face in many countries, including the US, for a whole host of unethical business practices, not least of which is manipulation of their own stock values. Someones upset they aren't playing SMG right now. Also most soccer moms would stand in line for their child, and I'm sure countless people with jobs stood in line to get a wii. For me I was lucky enough to be in the right place at the right time and scooped up the last one at wal mart. Later that week I saw a truck pulling into EB games and bought 2 more wiis. So 3 wiis in one week, oh and in January nonetheless. P.S. I see wiis everywhere now I work at Best Buy and they have lots, also my girlfriend works at Shoppers Drug Mart(not sure if theres one of those in USA) and even they are selling wiis. On any given day there are at least 3 wiis at walmart too so no shortage here.
its not that hard... here are some directions
1. Get in a car
2. Make the car move (drive if you are old enough, otherwise make someone else)
3.Using the car, move to a Target (prefferably a close one)
4. Enter Target using doors
5. Walk inside
5. Find Electronics Section of store (otherwise ask a person WEARIN RED that works there)
6. Ask for a Wii (the CONSOLE wii)
7. If they say they have some, reffer to step 9, if not, continue to step 8
8. if they do not have any WIi Consoles, reffer to step 10
9. Using green money, from america, buy the console
10. ask when next shipment may be
11. wake up day of shipment (you asked the day you went to target to ask for wiis)
12. repeat steps 1-9
It's all timing. The consoles are there, it's just a matter of beating the others who are buying several at once for sale on eBay. I've walked into a Walmart on a Saturday at 10Am and there were 6 on the shelf. Costco- my friend walked by and found 2 Zelda pack-in editions sitting on the shelf. Target- my wife walked just at 10:30AM during the week just as they were putting 6 out for sale. ToysRUs on-line- my first few tries got one into the checkout, but they sold out by the time I hit "submit".
I called Walmart and went in a few times. Just ask an employee and they'll tell you generally about the time when the FedEx truck arrives with the Wii delivery. Just call the electronics department a half hour or hour after the delivery time and they'll tell you if any came in that day or not.
I have been looking for a Wii. Some times they come up and I don't want them at the time it is. I have been looking at Mario Galaxey, and Brawl. Mainly the only reason I would want a Wii.
But around here they pop up and are sold quickly. I am also not despret and am not going to pay 400$ or more for a Wii when it costs only 250$.
Best thing to do is look around. :)
hhmm i just checked, the wii bundles have gotten bigger and more expensive
i guess if u really want a wii, u can buy the bundle, it expensive but it contains good games and accesories
there is always 1 bad game though, if u want to buy a bundle, go to barnes and noble's site because they wont run out of stock for the next shipment most likely
I'm sorry to sound like I'm being a jerk, but times like these make me feel so thankful I camped out in front of Toys R Us that fateful night to get my Wii. But that's a different story entirely. Makes me wanna blog it.
But anyway, I think you'll have a slightly easier time in Louisiana. Philedelphia is OF COURSE going to be hard. There's a few used ones at the GameStop I work at. But that's because no one here is intelligent enough to appreciate the Nintendo Wii besides conservative mothers and fathers.
EDIT: Misunderstood thread titleWesliihaha good point, to answer the topic question, no I haven't because I haven't started looking,
word life on the christian statement weslii
LOL So basically take on a second job looking for a game console, that's your advice? And they say that reading comprehension isn't a problem these days...
Here's something for you "it's not that hard, all you've gotta do is look bro" mental midgets out there.
Fact 1: I've called 4 different GameStop stores multiple times in the past 10 days only to be told that they weren't going to have any Wii consoles until Black Friday. This is the ***DEFINITION*** of "manufactured demand." he word "manufactured" is key there. It indicates demand in excecss o what is warranted, created by an artificial lack of supply. In this case, GameStop *has* Wii consoles but isn't selling them until Black Friday. I was told the same thing today at Worst Buy and Target. The pizza faced 14 year old at Worst Buy told me I'd have a great chance on Black Friday if I got to the store by 6 or 7 PM on THANKSGIVING DAY.
Fact 2: It has been reported on Gamespot and elsewhere that Nintendo has shipped ~ 11 to 12 million Wii consoles thus far. And yet Nintendo *claims* that they will ship **23** million consoles by the end of March! That means that either Nintendo will exceed their total Wii production thus far (a year plus some months before launch) in the next four months, or they are hording consoles. Is *anyone* really naive enough to think that Nintendo is going to quadruple their production in the next four months??? If you're buying that I'm got a couple of Caribbean islands I'd love to sell you. Maybe then I can spend some of the profit on one of those absurdly overpriced bundles or pay one of the a--holes on ebay. LOL
Look kids, I *understand* that there are Wiis out there. I *understand* that it is possible to find a Wii. The problem *I* have, as I stated in the very beginning, is it being so ridiculously hard for me, an average guy who has neither the time nor the desire to make looking for a Wii a full time job, to find one.
Not that I expect anyone to care in the least (why should you?), but Nintendo has until Christmas to get enough Wiis into stores such that I can walk in and find one or they can try me again in the next generation of consoles. As cool as the Wii looks, and as much as I think I'd enjo it, I ***KNOW*** that I'd have a heck of a lot more fun with the 360 or PS3 I can buy for sure than I would with the imaginary Wii I can't even find to buy.
