It's a mix of Nintendo being very quiet about this game's release, it came at the same time as the release of the 3DS and WiiU, so people are distracted by those, and Nintendo's "core" following has indeed dropped due to dislike of the Wii. That is why it seems like there is so much less hype over this game, even though it is looking to be much better than TP.meetroid8
To strengthen your point, it's also the droughts of Wii, Operation Rainfall, trailers that show pure gameplay but they are somehow bad because they they to be Epic and Cinematic! The media isn't helping at all as they are simply clueless about anything Nintendo related.
Giantbomb outright said that they won't cover games in depth they don't care about. I listened 2-3 hours trying to find the SS segment in one of the podcasts, as I was looking for every detail about the game and it turned out they where just joking around "do you still have the booooomerang??! hihihih" also IGN's, 'IGN Nintendo Team Editor' waggling the crap out of that wiimote isn't really helping to convince people that this isn't really waggle.
Additionally: It's a waggle game OMG they ruined Zelda! // Lol what a fail E3 2010 presentation, game is fail, don't care what the journalists testing the game say, game is broken // The artstyle! What is this kiddy stuff! I want realistic Link like TP!
There's a ton more, but there you have it. SS is actually my most hyped video game ever. They truly went all in on this one. This is the Zelda game. It all depends on the execution now.
