I'm all for innovation, but having to switch between the touch screen and 'standard' controls in Dawn of Sorrow is getting pretty annoying. I don't like touching the screen with my finger, so I have to pull out the stylus and change the way I hold the DS a bit everytime I need to destroy a boss or clear some blue ice crystals from the screen. I hope they removed that stuff from Portrait of Ruin. Anyone else get a little annoyed by this?

It's a great game otherwise though. :)

I thought that was pretty annoying in the game as well. The first two seals aren't very hard to memorize. But the last seal is like impossible to remember.especially when your fighting "Death", and you have to draw it after you beat it.( I still havent beat it yet!!!)

But they had to add at least some touch screen action. I mean it is a DS game  :/

Yes it's really irritating. I have no idea why they made you "touch" a pattern for a seal. I used my finger, but I ended up not pressing hard enough half the time so it didn't register.

Yeah, they probably felt like they had to incorporate a bit of touch screen action since it was a DS game. I think they could've done without it. Portrait of Ruin removed all the touch screen aspects of DoS right? I can't wait to buy it, but $35 is a bit much and I need to save up for Pokemon D/P.

Well, you maybe right. And as for Portrait of Ruin, Do not worry.  PoR does not have any touch controls, save your logo creation, warp point choice and menu interactions, but they are optional and can be done via the d-pad.

Although the final seal is tricky, I was able to pull it off on my first try, so it really wasn't difficult at all. The key is to PRACTICE it until you get the hang of it before you engage the boss. There's a reason why you can access and repeatedly train the seals on the options menu after all.

I fail to see how it's annoying, it's used for less than 1% of the game. I just use the back of my nail anyway.

I think that, as the first DS Castlevania game, the people over at Konami were basically experimenting with what they could do with the touch screen in DoS. I didn't really care for it either. Even when I had the stylus out and ready, I still found it tough to do the seals sometimes. Especially during the more intense battles like against Aguni, where my hands were twitching from adrenaline. Btw, I usually find it easier to do the seals by connecting the points in a curving continuous motion instead of doing straight lines between the points. Like drawing a figure-8 or S, instead of doing the shortest distance between the points. You'll be happy to hear that while PoR does have touch screen functions, they're non-essential.

The touch screen can be used to move the 2nd character around if they're on screen. The only time this is even remotely useful is against a certain slimy boss and you want to use the "cheap" way of beating it ;) . Otherwise, it's really not that useful and you can go pretty much the whole game without using the touch screen.

I believe it. That final seal is really tuff to master. And Death is like impossible to beat on top of thatÂ
