Howdy, i've been having this issue where for some odd reason im getting chips and scratches from the lower screen (I presume) onto the top screen, and it's causing a straight line on both sides. Any way to fix this?

Because it's not under the warranty, and will cost from £50 to 70 to fix :'(

Yes, this is a very common problem. If (or when) your scratches become permanent you can send it in to Nintendo and they'll fix it for free.

Yeah I have noticed that I have a very small micro dot or something on my top screen and it sucks because I clean my 3ds after each use with a microfiber cloth.

i think my 3DS could be on the way out. its randomly shutting off. its happened 3 times now. the last time it was even on the charger so its not a dead battery causing it. whats the story if i need a new one? will the 3DS transfer system move over all my settings, shop codes, friends and so on? or do i need to send it into nintendo to ensure i dont lose content i have bought? i have the recepit and its under warranty so i will be easily able to get a replacement from the store.

Contact Nintendo with all those questions. You'll get the most helpful answer that way.

*EDIT* This was meant for osan0

Unfortunately, you're going to have to pay to just get the screen fixed. There's no way to fix it on your own. In the future, place a cloth between the two screens or put a screen protector on the top screen. That's what I did to mines. I really wish Nintendo would address this issue.

well i just got off the phone with ninty. the prognosis is not good. my 3DS is terminally ill with spontaneous combustion of the phallicus gangleoin :( :P. in case anyone else does find this info useful. like the wii; you do need to send a busted 3DS into nintendo for repair/replacement. getting a replacement at the store will mean you will lose access to any content you bought on the Eshop. natch...3DS less for the next 2 weeks...and just when mario came out :(. credit where its due mind. my call was answered quickly and dealt with promptly. there going to send out a free post label so it shouldnt cost me more than the price of an envelope to repair.
