Anyone else wish it was a Nintendo HD instead of 3D?

I mean after this was made their already gonna make a HD console so im worried that the 3DS games wont match up to anything no more because the wii will be replaced by Project Cafe and its in HD. So doesnt that make the 3DS the most cartoonyish concole their is now?

Maybe. But i really like the 3d effect. It really gives the game a bit extra. I don't really need Nintendo games in HD. For the more hardcore games i'll buy a NGP, so i don't really care. Nintendo= fun. Sony= more serious.

I really like it brings something new than a thing that is more standard. As far as I know the graphics improve bit by bit. If the main reason for nintendo would be making the best graphics possible people would be less surprised each time.

It would be nice if the resolution was a bit higher, but the screen is too small for HD. You wouldn't be able to really see the extra pixels on a 3" screen.

Well it does actually. Look up the screenshots form Uncharted on the NGP/Vita. Alright, the screen is a bit bigger and not even HD. But you can clearly see the improvements. But that's not just the screen, it's also the graphics processor.

Anywho, I'm happy with the graphics as they are.

Naw 3D gaming is what everyone wants man. Its the future of gaming. Glasses free technology is the most amazing thing ever invented this year. HD is just overhype SD viewing.

I'm pointing out how when I was younger our handhelds weren't all of that powerful. There was a very large gap between the power of the Gameboy and the N64. So I am not phased by the idea of the 3DS being less powerful than the Cafe.

I actually grew up during the SNES era. However, my parents had an NES and that was the first I remember playing regardless of the fact that the SNES came out in the US around when I was 3 and my memories are surely from after then.

So if I don't agree with your opinion, i'm stupid? What a great arguement. For a start, I didn't say it wasn't better. I'm not saying HD isn't an improvement, I just think its overated. I've got a 32 inch HD tv in my front room for my housemates Xbox, whilst mine sits under a 27 inch Standard TV. Whilst I do move my profile over from time to time, i've no problems playing on the standard TV. The visuals look fine. Perhaps not as crisp, but still fine. But hey, thats me. I've only had to play video games on Standard TV's for through 2 decades before HDTVs came along.

I'm happy to with the graphics as they are. ALthough it would be nice to have a little more resolution. But as others have already said, it's not the most important thing. I like the 3d more than the higher resolution.

Ofcours you can play on your SD tv, but don't you like it a lot better in your HD tv? Maybe that's also the kind of games your playing. I can imagine it doesn't really matter for RPG/Adventure games, though more sharpness will be very usefull in a shooter.

Well, the 3DS does play games at a higher resolution than the DS technically,....

Also, the 3DS is HD (Because it is a Handheld Device!)

I don't care how long ago it was. The point of that post was not to brag (I am not), it was to point out that back then portables had vastly inferior graphical capabilities to their respective consoles.

Considering how it wasn't that long ago, I don't know why people would freak out so much over a home console being so much more powerful than its respective handheld. The 3DS is quite a step up from the DS as it is.

I think the 3D will be good for older games on the eShop.

"HD" is a resolution- 720p (or 1080p for "full hd".) 720p is not feasible for a handheld device, even the NGP doesn't have 720p.

It has a resolution of 960 x 544, which is quite impressive. It most , likely couldn't even handle 720p, but it's also the screen that matters.

A small screen with high resolution is just to expensive.

I'm definitely not a fan of how jagged everything is on the 3DS. I don't know who's idea it was to give the system the power to run near-360/PS3 characters models in 3D on such a low-res screen. I'm happy with the system overall but there's times the resolution just flat-out disappoints.

Exactly. It's quite powerfull itself, but because of the screen the games don't look that great. It's not bad, it's (almost) PSP quality i think. But i expected something better.

I would have liked more resolution. 3D is also very nice, they should have both of it. But i guess that's too expensive.

System overall is indeed great, i love the 3d. But the resolution.... Ah well, that's why i'm going to buy a NGP anyway. But for people who don't have the money too buy all of that i can imagine they wanted something more maybe.

But as i said, 3DS= fun gaming NGP= (also fun) Hardcore gaming.

if im looking for graphics i want crysis like graphics. I have already seen the light and anything that advertizes graphics but cant look like crysis on at least high (and even then it still bothers me despite it being the best i've ever seen on my own system) is not good enough for me. People may call it gimmick, but it's gotta be new or interesting or different or i dont really want it.

Exactly, it would only cost more and you wont be seeing any diffrence (maybe minimal).
