I really like the design and build of the 3DS, but something that really bugs me is how worn out my circle pad is getting. I treat my 3DS very well and never play it too rough, but I've noticed my circle pad is starting to get a bit worn down and really smooth, almost slippery. When I use it now my thumb often slips a bit, and it just doesn't have as much friction as it used to. It just bugs me. I never eat food when I play it or anything, it's just getting like this from playing normally. I really wish they would have made the circle pad removable and replacable :?

Yeah. I didn't notice it so much until I picked up my girlfriend's new 3DS today - her circle pad is much grippier and just feels better. (plus, its hinge mechanism is so much better than my near launch unit that it's kind of sad)

God, I was thinking the exact same thing yesterday. Yes, the same is happening with my circle pad (I bought my 3DS in July 2011).

Well at least I'm not alone. That's when I noticed it as well, DJ_Lae. My little brother just got one for Christmas and the circle pad on his had a nice grip to it and felt great compared to mine. And you're right about the hinge too. Mine clicks and is kind of loose, whereas his just kind of locks in place without to much sound and is very sturdy. Got mine June of last year.

Booh, this isn't good news :P. I have used mine for probably 50ish hours give or take, and don't notice anything, but that isn't that much time either.

No troubles for me so far. It's seen about 90 hours of action.

I worried about that alot back when I first got my launch PSP. But in the end it never was a serious problem. So I'm guessing my 3DS will also hold up without any major issues.

Yup, the 3DS circle pad gets slippery after a while. Nintendo could've prevented this, like they did with the GC controller, for example, but for some reason didn't.

I havnt noticed any issue with mine after a good amount of playtime since launch. Also, I havent noticed anything strange with the hinge either. Mine locks in and doesn't really move around much while playing.

I haven't checked in a while but I have to be up to 150 hrs of playtime w/ no problems. I have put in a lot of time on the ambassador games and a few DS titles though and use the d-pad for that.

Yep. When playing OoT and holding up on the circle pad to run forward, my finger eventually reaches the edge of the circle pad and I have to readjust. :P

I no longer have my orginal Cosmic Black 3DS I bought on launch day since I've replaced it with a Flame Red one. I have about 60+ hours logged on the new one and the circle pad is still extremely responsive.

Yup, I'm having the same problem with the same game. I really think Nintendo should have made the circle pad replaceable, and you could just pop off the old one and buy new ones to attach.

Yeah, or maybe they can make something that you can put on top of the circle pad, like an elastic thingy that can be removed.
