I'm waiting for it.
There's no reason why it won't.The Wii can easily handle MM, and the guys that make the games downloadable should be able to make Majora's Mask...downloadable.
expansion pack games dont work right, so they have to fix that problem before they can release MM or any other expansion pack game.
but everyone on the face of the earth is hoping for MM
my sister took our n64, so i cant play it
I know there's talk of it not being alble to work because of the expansion pack but...why not? All the expansion pack did was improve the graphics (to my knowledge) and I'd like to think that the wii would be able to handle n64 graphics. However, if there is some weird problem that they're having with the expansion pack, it's probably not worth their while to fix it. The only other games I know of that required the expansion pack were Donkey Kong 64 and Perfect Dark, both owned by Rare which is now owned by microsoft.
Aaaand that was me having an argument with myself. Wow.

I think he meant "Made by"I don't understand why it's soooo hard to fix the problem. All the expansion pack did is add 4mb of ram to N64. A whopping 4!!!!! I understand that it allowed the system to have more characters on screen, allowed different effects, etc. but come on! It honestly can't be that hard to do if you know what you are doing,
and it's Nintendo we're talking about here. They developed the damn game for *****'s sake. Just go in there in fix the damn code or whatever you have to do to make it work. There is only two games that people want that required the Expansion Pak, and one being MM.
BRING IT ON!

So far the Wii hardware is unable to run it
Maybe that'll change in the future

I've been seeing this info circulating, but I've never seen a source. Can anybody give a link or something?
Also, I've read (though I don't remember where, so I can't confirm the validity) that every VC download includes both the software and the emulator. In other words, the classic systems' emulators aren't actually present on the Wii, but rather a part of the download file. This would make sense as a hinderance to piracy, I'd think. If this is the case, then the expansion pak wouldn't be a problem since all they'd have to do is tweak the emulator that runs the game.
And if that info isn't accurate, then wouldn't Nintendo just have to come up with an update to the Wii's onboard emulator to allow it to work with expansion pak games? Like danger said, all that pak did was add a few extra megabytes of ram. As far as I know, emulators are just software, so a system update would be sufficient to fix that problem.

You're right about the software being bundled with the game
The idea with the memory pack is that it uses the same idea as putting your cache on another hard drive in your system to improve performance.
Maybe Nintendo is trying to find a way to run the game without having a partition made on the hard drive because then something would have to stay on the system and be deleted independently?
Let's see: Pokemon Stadium 1 and 2 also Majora's Mask used expansion packs. I don't believe any of the current vc games on N64 used expansion packs (could be wrong there). Any other titles that used expansion packs that aren't out on the n64 section in VC library? (BESIDES RARE!)wiifan001I'm almost positive Hybrid Heaven used the expansion pack as well. As for me, I didn't really like MM. I just couldn't get into it and hated the time constraint.

Majora's mask and DK 64 are the only two the NEED the expansion pack to run.
Perfect Dark and StarCraft 64 had major functions of the game locked unless you had the expansion (but I don't see either coming to VC)
Every other game that used the expansion pak was only for cosmetic effects. Â I can garuntee you that Nintendo will not go to the effort to make sure the expansion pak effects work in every game. Â They will probably just write a patch or something to MM and DK64 based on precieved popularity.Â

yeah, and none of those are on the VC, and other the expansion pack excuse, Perfect Dark is the only one excused because it was developed by Rare. All those titles you mentioned aren't on VC and as ADrock claims, (thinking Hybrid Heaven) isn't either. I may be going out on a limb but it doesn't look like any Nintendo titles that used expansion packs are coming to VC.It makes one think think it wouldn't be that hard to fix the problem, but Nintendo doesn't either seem to care. They are either going to release it broken, or not release it all.
Strangely, I thought the game was already on the VC in EU territory.
I would laugh my butt off if they ever do release it, and it blows their sales expectations out of the water. Same thing happened to Sin & Punishment, and awkwardly we get a sequel. It would be nice to have another "true" darker mood" Zelda. (TP was a joke, so don't respond to that comment)

It's not just the mood of Majora's Mask that makes it so appealing, though. It's the whole design. Some of the elements are Zelda mainstays, but much of it feels very fresh. There are only four dungeons, and each one is amazing. I'd rather have four amazing dungeons than seven mediocre ones. Transforming into the different familiar creatures is also fun and fresh, and it was great to see a little bit of that in Wind Waker as well, with the dungeons that required the help of other characters and their abilities.
Those are the types of things I'd like to see in future Zelda games. I honestly don't care what kind of mood the game has, because if it's done well, the mood can fit the Zelda universe. We saw that with Wind Waker's happier presentation. What I don't want is the same gameplay ideas rinsed and repeated in every Zelda game. Majora's Mask introduced quite a few new ideas, such as a greater concentration on dungeon creation from the developers and more to do overall for the player, while still keeping the general formula. That should be what Zelda games are about - creating a fresh game within the familiar Zelda structure.

oh I completely agree with everything you stated. It was a fantastic game that the later, seem to not be able hold up to imo. Like you mentioned, it only had 4 dungeons to complete but, I would bet it took people longer to complete than OoT.
Lots of collectables, quests, and nice looking game overall.
I don't get it. The Wii has 88 MB of RAM. The N64 had 8 MB of RAM with the expansion.clicketyclickThat's not how emulation works. You need much more power than the system being emulated. Also, it depends on the system's hardware. For example, the Wii is much more powerful than the Saturn but couldn't come close to emulating it due to the Saturn's hardware arrangement. Majora's Mask can be emulated. In fact, Nintendo already did it on the GC. But the problem is emulating it correctly without any bugs, which could be difficult. Nintendo will not release any Expansion Pack games on the VC unless they are perfect emulations.
