A worker at GameStop has9 Hours, 9 Peoples,9 Doorsand recommended it to me today. It sounds really interesting, and he said he is going to try and order in another copy of the game.

I was wondering if anyone here had played it before, and if so what they thought of the game. (And no spoilers, please.) I guess my main question is, what is the gameplay like? From what the worker told me, it has a lot of dialogue, but I am wondering if this game is puzzle-based or decision-based or something else. Maybe there are some other games you could compare this game to?

And also, how much would you say the game is worth in dollars, if you had to put a price tag on it? Don't wanna pay a lot for it and wind up feeling like it wasn't worth it, you know?

If anyone takes the time to respond to this then I appreciate it. I guess 999 is one of those games that is sort of uncommon, so I wanna try to make a decision about it soon.

I have the game and gotten all six endings, and the game is definitely worth the play. It's a very different kind of game, it requires a lot of reading, but the story is wonderful. One of the best stories I have ever seen in a video game.

Warning though, this game requires you to play more than once. If you're lucky you can get the true ending on your third try.

Indeed, played it as well and got all the endings also. Highly recommended to the people who enjoy those adventure/puzzle type games. Had an awesome experience with it.

I want that game, but it's getting really hard to find and the prices are rising fast... Theres a demo on the official site too, I played it. The presentation reminds me of Pheonix Wright, but it's more puzzle based.

When you were little, did you ever read those "Choose your own Adventure" books? It's like that, except it also has puzzles interspersed within the story. I like it, it's a great game. I even got the promotional watch they bundled with the game earlier on.

Hm well it sounds like the game must really be worth looking into then. I'll see if I can grab the copy they ordered at GameStop sometime this week or next.

Thanks for the help everyone!

I looked all over for it, but no store had it, including several GameStop stores.

Nah, but it's close. It's on par with Phoenix Wright and Hotel Dusk/Last Window.

It's on par with TWEWY in terms of style, and surpasses it in plot and atmosphere. TWEWY is better by sheer gameplay, of course, but is a close match.

Yes and I own it. To me the best game of all time on the DS is:

The Professor Layton Series.

Yeah, that series has many fans, myself I tend to get crazy with logic puzzles, so not my style... :P :P :P Anyway, to get back on topic, 999 should support the rumble pack (like Hotel Dusk), but Nintendo is the master of not supporting their own accessories... how to expect other companies to do it?

They support the WM+ and that entered into the Wiimote which I bought so no more addon since its inside the controller now. XD

I never liked the rumble pack. I only want rumble when I am playing a console game. On the portable side of things, it drains battery faster. :(

But then again, an under-supported Nintendo accessory.

See now I have to be looked at as a jerk for reccomending that you read the reviews on this and other gamesites if you want to know what the games like. It's the easiest and the best way as they are usually very thourough and even have pics and vids of the gameplay. I don't know why everyone wouldn't be doing this when researching a game.

Good luck, and yeah it's worth playing.

I was gonna pitch my two cents and tell you it's great, but it looks like it's already a unanimous "yes, it's awesome" anyway. :P

Well ironically I just got my hands on it (FINALLY) just recently (got my copy yesterday from Amazon); so unfortunately I don't have a definite answer to how it is yet as I'm just getting ready to start it. But I've heard very good things about from various websites (including here) & other gamers that I knew I had to have it. :P

LOL, no I wouldn't think of you as a jerk. To be honest, that really isn't a bad recommendation b/c as you mentioned a lot of game sites (and even here) did pretty good thorough jobs of detailing what the game is about. Actually, that is one of the main reasons (coupled w/ opinions from fellow gamers as well) that made me get it.
