well actually i had this problem on my standard 4:3 tv for a while - white dots in a weird pattern, grey blocks appearing randomly and a kind of "ghosting" when playing zelda. The problem went away by itself, after I had unplugged it for about 10 minutes and change the settings on Wii Connect 24. Since then, I've upgraded my tv to a widescreen plasma, playing 480p, and have had no problems. My guess? A wii connect issue or a over heating issue.

The only problem im having playing my wii is very minor. Sometimes the image is somewhat grainy or blurry if thats the word to describe it. I notice this especially on samus' arm cannon in MP3.

Haven't seen anything really weird yet. When I play GC games at 480p in widescreen mode on the Wii, I do notice some black bars on the side of the screen though... Like image doesn't take up the entire screen. But like I said, it just happens when I run GC games.

Ya. It has very small, but noticable if you pay attention, black bars on both sides of the screen that are very annoying, but I usually quickly forget once im all in game.

What do you mean not "full" 480p? Also, do you have to tell the game that you are able to do progressive scan/widescreen?

When playing GC games the black bars pop up on the sides, but i just turn on overscan +2 on ma LCD HTV and the bars go away. For MP3 i just use overscan +1. It depends on how good ur HDTV is, and if you've configured the colour settings properly. Blurring could be caused by the player not turning on "EDTV'on your Wii

No not really... in fact it works fine for me. However MP 3 doesn't support a true 480p resolution so it has little black borders on the side... I didn't know it at first because my t.v. is black, but it's there. Odd for me...

There are thin black bars on the side of the screen. There's no image in them whatsoever, you're basically getting an image that's not in full resolution.

Also you may have to or not. It depends on the game... usually if it detects your Wii is set in 16:9 mode, it will set-up appropiately, but sometimes you may have to go in the menu screen to do so, and the progressive scan is only availible if you have the cables.

480p is not a 16:9 signal. 480p is EDTV, which is 4:3.

The bars are there because of design, its not a flaw.

You got to remember, most wii games aren't full 480p. I'm pretty sure zelda was, but both neither scarface or metroid prime 3 were not 480p completely. If you don't believe me on metroid, go to ign.com and look at all the recent previews. They stated it in one of the most recent ones. Though their not 280p *320x280 like older games use* like most ps2 progressivie scan games use.

480p has nothing to do with widescreen. A 480p signal can be 4:3 the 480 part of the 640x480 is the vertitcal size not the horizontal part. Metroid is full 480P, its just not full 16x9 Widescreen. Its close though.

i thought so! when i first played secret rings.. i knew for sure it was not in full 480p... i thouhgt maybe it was line doubling and just saying it was 480p butwhen i cam on some other forums to ask others that have played it in 480p..i just about got flamed for saying it was not truely 480p :/

I played Metroid Prime 3 at my friend's house, just so I could see it on his 43" Bravia, and it looked awesome. (We were using my Wii, MP3, and component cables.)

Line doubling was one of the most annoying 'tricks' developers used last generation and on the wii. If you play re4 on other than a sdtv or a edtv, it looks like utter trash. God of war 1 and 2 used it, BUT in 2 there was a code that actually took away that line doubling and had a full on 480p resolution. Framerate took a hit, but it looked much better. Your tv will never say its lower than 480i/p, but you'll be able to tell *at least on the wii* what it is by hitting the home button. Everything has a different sizing to them depending on the game.

MP3 looks mighty good on my lcd tv. If it isn't full 16x9 widescreen, it's so close that there's really no point in mentioning it. I just beat the game last night and never once did i even notice the 4 or 5 pixel wide lines on the side. If you're gonna complain about stuff, better find something more substantial than this.

I was about to say the same thing myself. Some(Most)EDTV's are 4:3 and EDTV is 480p. I know some EDTVs are 16:9 widescreen such as the 42" Plasma EDTVs, but most are 4:3.

Agreed. The only way you can associate crap with MP:3 is if you say "this crap is awesome", and i'm still not even sure about that.....

I have a 46" DLP and the Wii looks great. I'm actually blown away by how well Metroid looks. Jaggies are pretty much unnoticable, unlike Zelda and Resident Evil 4.

I have not had a single problem, no blurriness, no greynesss, and sometimes 1" black bars on the sides, but thats all game dependant...

Also, I though Mp3 WAS 480p fully, cause mine looks like it is... i'l have to check the tv settings when i play tonight, it seems pretty smooth to be 480i...
