I watched the battle tutorial video earlier and was annoyed by the voices about halfway through the battle scene..... I can't imagine having to hear that through a whole game.... *shudders*
That's just... swell. Such a promising game, now apparently trampled by some of the worse voice acting I've ever heard in my life. It's as if the actors themselves weren't aware that people will have to hear their voices throughout the game or something.
Wouldn't be the first time I've gone through a game with some pretty bad VA (StarFox Assault immediately comes to mind), but sheesh...
Eeewww, it all sounds so forced. Bad acting. :?
Not to mention that it seems they didn't even attempt to make the voices match up with the lips.
Come on, its not that bad.Shottayouth13-It's pretty atrocious. :P It's a real shame. Game looked promising.

Yes, yes it was. Absolutely horrible. Maybe you're just used to hearing bad voice actors.
How these people even have a job doing voice acting, I have no clue.
Im hoping theres an option to turn it off, it would really help my enjoyment of the game. If not, I dont think Im going to get this because I dont want to have to listen to it throughout the entire game.
A majority of the voice acting in video games are not that good anyway. There are very few titles that have decent voice acting. When voice acting is drastically improved, in the industry, then I will harshly complain about a game with bad voice acting.
this is why every jrpg game should have japanese sound track with itelbert_b_23According to RPGamer, Ignition wasn't able to secure the rights to the Japanese voice track. And even if they could, I dobut they could fit both English and Japanese voice acting onto a single Wii disc.
Meh, it's not good, but I can deal with it. I dealt with Star Ocean. Star Ocean was a terrible game, not just the VA. I hope this game turns out to be solid despite the meh voice acting. I'll live with bad VA anyday as long as the gameplay and story are solid enough.
I don't know why it took so long for this game to come out. Even the Japanese release took awhile. We've known about this game since mid-2008!!!
How does a game with PS2 graphics/and an anime art style take this long to be released? I understand localisation, but my goodness. You would think this was Final Fantasy 13 or something 'major'!
Their is bad, and then their is Arc Rise Fantasia. In long, story intensive video games, if they are going to have voice acting, it needs to be at least "good". If they can't be bothered with that, then they need to go text only.A majority of the voice acting in video games are not that good anyway. There are very few titles that have decent voice acting. Man, I use to watch old school kung fu flicks back in the day. If I can deal with the voice overs in those movies, I can handle ARF. Then again, I'm not interested in turn based anime games anyway, but if I was...I could deal with the voice acting.
that VA is just terrible -.- so boring so I cant even make fun of it
the script wasn't the greates ever either
omg they are talking in the fights too it is destroying the game, the dialogue is cheezy aswell :/
"Healing Water!"
"Cool, thanks"
lmao
I can't stand it

日本に住んでいるのに、日本語があまり分かりませんか?
Or do you just prefer playing in English?
Wish I was fluent enough to play in Japanese. Poor voice acting is really distracting to me, but so is dictionary crawl.
Mute for voices alone would be nice..I think I'd prefer to play that way in cases like this. It's like they pulled a few random people off the street or something.
OMG, it is awful, and i've played lots of JRPGs with awful voice acting, and this one is among the worst.
That.......is.....FANTASTIC
Finally this game has a reason to be played!
This does nothing but help this title because that kind of voice work HAS to be experienced. No one cares what low end RPG is getting released but when you pair low end RPG with that kind of voice work? It goes from someone never playing it to someone making it a priority to check when it drops in price to snag it.
This could get a cult following on the voice work alone.
Great news for Wii owners

Shame. More JRPG developers should take SE's example and take voice acting seriously. Games like this and Sakura Wars having mid 90's anime dub actors is downright pathetic.SteveTabernaclesorry to say this, but i dont think SE is a good example. FFXIII had a huge budget yet me and an a LOT of people in the internet(and most of the gamers i know IRL) considers it to have a sub par VA at best. And Crystal Bearers for wii also has unbearable VA(no pun intended). I admire much more the excellent voice acting in No more heroes games which probably costed 10% of FFXIII.
I think this is pretty good. The actors are acting bewildered and juvenile. If more than these two sound like this, then I will consider it a bad VA cast.
But I do fall in the group of people who enjoyed Chaos Wars and Foxhunt for their bad acting and voicework. So win/win for me.

Wow. The VA is Baiten Kaitos bad. I didn't think that current gen games would ever hit that low again. Oh well. Bad VA is not a deal breaker for me. I still might check this one out. We'll see how the finances are doing. I imagine it will get a price drop relatively quickly. Maybe you can turn off the VA.
Other than the VA, the game looks like it has very good potential.

Come on, you don't remember
...YOU, THE MASTER OF UNLOCKING...
This is such a great thing for this game because now it opens up the groups of players that will play it. If all the voice work is this quality it will be the best thing to ever happen to the game.
The BIG problem for me is not even that the voices are SO forced and staged feeling, but rather that they don't match up with the characters lips or anything. It feels like a video that some fan made where they provide there own VO in the video. For some reason it reminds me of FFX but VERY bad. IDK I just thought of FFX and remembered how much better it was. Oh and for facial animations and voices I must say Goldeneye Wii is quite good.
Like with you guys, I think these actors never return until they get a professional voice director.Zeta_Kouji
Why did you bump a thread from April?
My goodness. Here I thought everyone was just being over dramatic:|
My god that was worse than I thought. That was literally some of the worst I have ever heard. The game is supposed to be like 70 hours of that.
I like english dubs most of the time but that's like something from very beginning of VA in Video games.
