I just noticed it on mine and was wondering if other people are still getting them? I bought my DS lite in sept 2k6. Also does anyone know if Nintendo is still repairing them for free?
is a cracked hinge when one side of the hinge snaps and makes it all floppy and not able to hold the screen up? because if it is, thats what happened to my DS lite so i bought a new one. btw i bought my DS lite the day it came out
Well on my newest DS Lite, which is my third, so far none. Apparently when you get them repaired, they just replace them. They say your friend code may change, and to save your screen protectors because they change the screen. But if that were the matter, neither would happen. Still though, I don't care. To tell you the truth, I think it's better to actually have a factory flaw or two. Because every time you send in your Nintendo product, the warranty ends a YEAR from the point you get your console/handheld back. Extended warranty every time you get it back is good enough for me to actually look for flaws. :P
Everyone goes on about cracked hinges, dead pixels etc on the DSL, I've never had any trouble so far and I've had mine since Halloween last year. i give mine a good playing as well, but hopefully I've not just jinxed it :(

Like I said, if you do, then you are blessed. Another year on the Warranty. I have a retarded pixel on my top screen that is only noticeable on black and blue screens that I keep for a rainy day.

Thats not my DSL but its cracked in almost exactly the same way. On the left hinge, higher on the right and lower on the left.

The system you receive will be factory refurbished, not brand new.

On the left hinge of the DS lite is where the crack happens. It's hard to notice at first, but it has happened to both of my DS lites
I got one on launch and it had a cracked hinge. Returned that one. Got another and it had like 15 screwed up pixles. That one was returned in like august and the next one had a hinge crack. I'm now on my fourth DS.
I pre ordered my DS lite, and it got a cracked Hinge. I replaced it with Nintendo and 2 mos later it got another cracked hinge. It's barely noticeble and doesnt hinder functionality so i've decided to live with my cracked hinge.
