I am pretty sure they aren't over. If the amount of people who have a DS is expressed in a Pie chart. DSi and DSi XL would have 55 to 65 percent of the pie chart. The rest of the people have the "phat" or lite DS. I don't think it is over yet... until 2015, I think you are okay! :D

This. There's still at least one huge game coming to the DS. ...Although with the phat and lite in general... I'd say the phat's days were over long ago (didn't they stop making them?) and the lite, well... I'm not so sure to be honest. :?
The Lite won't be dead until 100% of new cartridge games with online features have WPA2 wireless encryption support. The DSi has WPA2 support but only for games which only run on the DSi. How many cartridge games only run on the DSi? None? OK, the Lite isn't dead yet.
For the folks out there who don't know, both WEP and WPA1 wireless encryption are hopelessly broken. The DS Phat and DS Lite only support WEP, making their online gaming features completely unusable.
So the 3DS should hopefully kill the Lite. The vast majority of new games should be 3DS-specific and therefore support WPA2 wireless encryption.

I sure hope so. It's a pain having to turn the wireless security off and on every time I want to do something online. I'm hoping that Black and White will have WPA2 capabilities as part of the DSi enhancements, but I doubt it.

Well, I don't really use it that much but all the buttons are working fine and it does have a little dust. I guess the bottom screen has been scratched a little too many times.
I play my PHAT every day. Buttons and screens are still fine. Haven't even replaced the battery. One thing about the PHAT. They were built like the SPs - TOUGH! It can take a lot of punishment. I got it really cheap from a friend who wanted to buy a Lite.
I was thinking I'd wait until the 3D comes out - and then buy an XL - cheap! :D (The market will probably be flooded with people selling them to buy the 3D.)
The days of MY DS Lite will be over when they offer the iD Software "DOOM", "DOOM II", and original "Wolfenstein 3D" (which I own on GBA carts) on something which plays on current-gen tech... until they replace my GBA carts of those titles, I will NEVER "trade up". You gotta be jokin'. Those games and "Resident Evil Deadly Silence" are the only reason I own a DS in the first place. All the rest of the games I own for it are superfluous.
Well, i'm still using my DS Lite, and it works fine. But i have a little problem with the upper screen. I'm not sure if i can post this comment on this topic but maybe someone can help me with this. Anyway, when i have my upper screen in a certain position, my screen turns all white like, but i can still see my game a little bit. Maybe my DS's days of fun is coming to an end, and then I have to purchase another Lite or XL. But if anyone can help me with this, it would be fine. But I don't think the days are over, cause lot of people have a DS phat or Lite.
I own a fat one and have had it ever since the release of it in 2004 and have never had any need to upgrade. I would have liked to upgrade to the lite as personally I think its best looking of the 4 generations of DS that are out at the moment and and don't see the point in a camera on a DS (DSi). But I think I will definitely be upgrading to the 3DS. Much better looking than all 4 so far and so much more added to it! Hopefully they release some good looking skins for the 3DS because I loved my epic skin I've got on my original DS! I also think the Zelda Phantom Hourglass skin for the DS Lite was sexy, hope they release a similar thing to that.

Hear , hear. Wasn't interested in the other DS-es that came out after the Lite, but the 3DS is what I'm willing to go for, especially since it can still play DS games.
Phat: died when the lite was relesed because smaller, sleeker & shiny = smexy :p Lite: STILL LIVES simply due to the fact the gba slot was removed from the DSi and it still has uses DSi: well it lives to as a worthless (opinion!!) to the lite, because camera yay? empty store yay? slighty bigger screens well i'll give it that XL: the funny thing here is that i like the XL more than the standard DSi, because the bigger screens are awesome, but the DSi is superior in portability, it lives through! What I see happening however is the 3DS nearly instantly rendering the 2 newer DS models obsolete, with the exception of the lite simply due to it's backwards compatibility, as the 3DS supposed can do everything the DSi can. Okay the XL might survive because its screens are still bigger :p
Since my original fat DS hinge has finally cracked after 6 years, I guess its days are numbered...:( I'll probably save it to play my GBA games though...
