Is nintendo planning to increase the size of the game cartrigdes in the future?
This would mean better games right? I mean the games now are fun, but wouldn't more space provide improved textures, longer games and better sound?

Yeah i would like maybe double the size of the cart, for better games... or a CD... i vote cdYounggun135
I think DQ IX is gonna use 2 cartridges, I wonder how you will get your save from one to another.Master_Saiboti think it means slot 1 and 2 kind of 2 cartriges.
I think tkhey should stay with flash based memory. with the way its going. We're seeing 8GB at reasonable prices, and when nintendo is finally read to update. We could see 10 GB handheld games. Sure we could have UMB stuff, but its limited because CD's can only go so small. It would require a new media(blu-ray esque mini disk) that would probably cost more. Goten_kingture, i guess i would like cart more then psp.

not true nintendo said that the ds carts can go up to 2GB but it depends on the software companys if they choose to use them or not. i know for a fact that ff3 and pokemon d & p use the 256MB carts. zelda ph may use a 512 MB cart.merchwill that rise the price?

No I've seen pictures, it's two slot 1 cards.
Weren't those pictures found to be fake?
Zelda Phantom Hourglass uses a 1 gig DS cart.
The 2 gig carts didn't come out previously because Nintendo wanted the cost to go down on them so they cost as much as a 1 gig cart at launch.
there isnt a single DS game out yet that uses more than 128mb space.
the biggest games i know of in terms of filesize are, resident evil, hotel dusk, ff3, children of mana.
pokemon only uses 64mb carts, and the smallest cart i know of is super mario 64 ds, which only uses 16mb.
i often wonder if the colour banding in the pre rendered backgrounds on resident evil DS is a result of compressing the quality of the backgrounds, or if its a ds hardware issue, i tend to think they crammed the game into 128mb/1gigbit.
id love to see some more ps1 ports such as resident evil 2 ds, which should be possible since it was ported to the 64, i have no idea how small that cart was though.
parasite eve 1 and 2 would be cool, but i mean could they even fit those games on a 128mb cart, because the games were on two discs, it makes you wonder if the low storage space of the carts is holing the DS back.
im sure the Devs can do alot more with 256mb/2 gigbit carts, id think the optimum would be 512mb/4gigabit, but i doubt that will happen because of manufacturing costs, its a shame because memory is coming down in price at a phenominal rate, maybe the DS 2 if they make one will have carts a couple of 1000mbs, i think optical media for a handheld is silly really.
N64 carts were about 25 megabytes. Old style FMV took up a lot of space due to poor compression techniques of the time. Both audio and visual FMVs of a few hundred megs in the old cd-rom games would likely only take 40 or 50 megs.
iirc, N64 titles ranged from 64megabits (or 8megabytes) to 512megabits(64 mB)
SM64 was 64mb, OoT was 256mb, and I believe Pokemon Stadium 2 was 512mb
For DS games, they probably can increase the card size, as long as they read and write in the same manner, but right now I don't think they need to.
Cd's suck for pirating lol. For PSX the ISO's for the games were all around 700mb when the same games for N64 were around 16mb and would tend to have better game-play because of the faster load times. With a CD there isn't very many bonuses, best thing I can think of is clearer sound but thats about it.
Also it doesn't matter how big a game is memory wise, it depends completely on the manufacturer of the game. There's games for the NDS that are like 8mb and others such as Lunar Knights which are about 120mb.

s, it's two slot 1 cards.
Not only was that pic fake, but why the hell would they use two cards instead of just a single bigger one?
The cost would be almost identical.
