They aren't right now. I think it is impossible for 100 characters on the Wii. I think it will be a while until a new one comes out.
We usually get 1 Smash Bros per console, so I doubt we will see anything til the next system comes out, but also seeing as this gen is suppose to be longer then past generation consoles it's possible for a 2nd Wii Smash Bros around the end of the Wii's lifespan.

That could be wrong. We also usually get one 3D Mario game per console, but Nintendo broke that cycle.
Well who knows... It's really tough to say. Usually It's one per console, regardless of time - Super Smash Bros for N64, then 2-3 yrs later, Melee for GC. Then, a whole 7 years for Brawl. And there's no way a new console's coming out in a long time, unless a quick revised version of the Wii comes out. In any case, people seem to be pressing to Nintendo to make a new one because Brawl was so highly anticipated, now everyone has already played the life out of it, they want more. Nobody new about Melee so it lasted long. With that said, I wouldn't be surprised if a new Smash Bros game would come out soon. I mean, there's a new Metroid Prime, Super Mario Galaxy, and Zelda, so why not. But I can't say for sure.
I can't remember where I heard this, but I think I heard at some point that the creator of the Smash series,(can't remember his name right now), didn't want to work on the series if it became stale and repitetive. I don't remember where I heard this; and if I messed up what he said, I apologize.
No. Nothing is announced for now.
And 100 characters is just too many. The only way that could work would be by giving several of them the same moves. But if they did that, waht's the point? They may as well just have fewer characters, and keep them all unique

As long as the game is still selling not everyone has played the life out of it. You have a false consensus. I haven't even been able to play the game competitively yet because there is no circuit in Western PA so I would have to organize it too.
Oh, and yah, like everyone else said, having 100 characters would be too many. They need to keep all the characters unique; it'd be impossible to do that with 100 characters. 30-somethin' is fine by me!:D

Yeah, that's why the one on N64 is my favorite. All of the characters are unique, while there are a couple of clones in Melee and Brawl. Had they changed the final smashes for Falco and Wolf, that would have improved it a whole lot (though I didn't really find Final Smashes necessary).
Oh, and don't expect a new Smash Bros. until next gen (they wouldn't want to release it for the Wii at the end of the Wii's lifecycle because it would be one of the major selling points for the next system).
