Hey guys. I have had my 3ds since launch and I must say I am very much loving my 3ds right now. Yeah the 3ds had a slow start and lack of good games but now and very soon we will get so many good games. Do you feel proud to be owning the 3ds and why?

I guess that I'm not a proud 3DS owner yet, but I will be once Mario Kart 7, Super Mario 3D Land, and the GBA Ambassador games are released.

Not really. I don't show it off to people.

But it was only $100 when i got it, so i just had to.

Can't wait to see how Mario Kart turns out.

Not really sure about being proud for buying a console. I mean I like it, it's cool, but I have no reason to be proud of it. I didn't design it. I had nothing to do with it.

Kinda. Its growing on me. But what I don't like aboutthese DSs is, why can't they just play games, like the Gameboys? Just insert your game and start playing. No internet no nothing.

Proud of what? Of being stupid enough to pay a lot of money for a crap system that released with an unfinished firmware, outdated hardware, needed hardware add ons and expensive enough that they could lower the price so much?

Absolutly love my 3DS and have been a proud owner since launch day also. But what we have experienced so far is NOTHING even! Mario 3D Land, Mario Kart coming soon! And then we have things like Resident Evil and all of next years games coming too! IT HAS ONLY JUST BEGUN!!!!!!!!

Very happy, very proud, and very excited!

For those in the NYC area, Mario 3D land EARLY launch event in time square this Saterday!

You mean fragmented OSs like Android where the top of the line games don't run on over half the available phones? You mean how the apps and games don't really have the full 512MB-1GB RAM to actually use as those are reserved for other functions?

Name to me a top of the line smartphone with its price ($150 to $300) with its overall 2 year cost ($100 a month for 24 months) and you aren't buying those phones for gaming.

There aren't many games that look as good as Resident Evil Revelations on smartphones, and those that do don't run well on older, or even some recently released smartphones.

Phone gets replaced every six months, and its impossible from a financial stand point to keep up. A 3DS is made to be profitable and run all 3DS games for the next 3-5 years. If you made a smartphone that would run the top of the line Android/iOS games in 2015 it would cost so far above $1000 it wouldn't be reasonable.

The 3DS has a multi-core 800Mhz CPU, a very good GPU (around 200Mhz) and 128MB RAM. I wouldn't call that outdated as the only other gaming handheld coming out soon that will compete directly with it isn't as much more powerful than the 3DS as the PSP was to the DS.

It's not outdated because its the current Nintendo handheld, and will be for the next few years. Stop comparing it to subsidized phones with huge contracts. They aren't the same thing.

Whether u like it or not the the 3DS IS using outdated tech. That doesn't make it a bad system by any means. Old hardware didn't stop the DS from being a good system so no need to get defensive. Also the CPU & GPU clock is not known so on't go around throwing numbers without being sure of what u type. Android fragmentation isn't as big as problem as people think it is, and the memory limit for apps is very easy to get around. That whole fragmentation junk is just as applicable on PC's yet that doesn't stop PC's from having superior looking games. Also, "only other gaming handheld coming out soon that will compete directly with it isn't as much more powerful than the 3DS" ....can't believe u actually think that. take the goggles off dude.

Phones are stronger than 3DS, end of story

The iPod Touch is a much closer competitor than any phone. It's got a faster processor, twice the RAM, a much higher resolution screen (albeit no 3D) and better cameras. Though the cameras on the Touch are garbage, the 3DS ones manage to be a lot worse. It also retails for about $30 more, and on the basis of cost of games, it's a lot cheaper. A huge number of the E-Shop games are ports from the App Store, but they cost three to five times less on the iPod/iPhone. It's also far more portable and is a better device for music, videos, and web browsing (obviously the lack of actual buttons limits what genres are playable on it).

At least, that's the competitor I'd imagine Nintendo is most worried about.

Fair enough (it can't be all that far off, though, Infinity Blade looks great). After all, the DS had a weaker GPU than the PSP and destroyed it at market. ;) I'm still surprised Nintendo hasn't done anything with the E-Shop to make it a more compelling service. The App Store may be filled with garbage but it's so much easier to use and the price of games on there is far less.

I am w/ you here. It seems to me if they only expanded the VC services to include SNES and N64, they'd then have a ton of exclusive titles they could offer just for example. And why no DS games? The hardware is obviously capable of playing them so why not offer them for download? I just don't get it. The online store is getting better and better but it still feels like an afterthought to me when it could easily be a main selling point.

DS games for download would be awesome. I would repurchase a number of games I already own just to get digital versions and not have to lug carts around (less for the size and more that they're easy to lose). There's also no technical reason why they couldn't include full retail 3DS games on the E-Shop. I did a quick online search and it seems that the four games I own (OoT, Ghost Recond, DoA, Pilotwings) are all between 200 and 400MB. Big, but not unrealistically big. Dump a cheap 8GB SD card in the 3DS and you could store a lot of those games.

Actually I am pretty embarassed to admit that I bought the 3DS on launch day. I really thought Nintendo would have more quality games on the system by now, but I guess that was just too much to ask for.

I'm not particularly bragging about it. I'm happy with the 3DS. Kinda wish it had a better launch though...
