There have been news going around saying that the game really blows badly in Europe and I was wondering if anyone is surprised to hear that its turning out good for a game that everyone have been hyping up for to long? One thing for sure I wasn't impressed by this game at all when the screen shots were revealed followed by actual gameplay footage, its looks like the game have been rushed together and looks like a PS2 game.

But anyway is there anyone out there who is still looking forward to the US release to the game?

I'm looking forward to the european release... I don't know what You heard but it's not out yet. The reviews have been good, just the sales in japan seemed to be lacking.

More and more it looks like Nintendo is embarrassed with it and doesn't want it to get to it's most profitable region.

The game has tanked in Japan, outlook for Europe doesn't look much brighter, and a US release isn't even planned unless the sales pick up.

I think Nintendo knows they have a bad game on their hands that was too old to launch because of the PC issue with the game. They're trying to release it quietly where it wont disappoint many instead of releasing it in North America and disappointing the masses.

It's not Nintendo's fault it's not selling well in Europe or Japan. It acctually got good reviews, but why they don't release it here is beyond me.

No, it's not their fault

I just think they want to stop the bleeding The game has been on the shelf a long time. Because of the problems with the earthquake and everything PC related it's just dated now.

I never played a game like this. But yeah it has been on the shelf a little while, but trust me if it's released here it will sell greatly and I will buy it.

I'm on the fence with this one. A few months ago I was really hyped for it, but now its kinda dwindled somewhat. I'm not too keen on the light-gun shooting gameplay. The driving stuff looks kinda fun, as does rescuing people but hmm... Something is telling me that this game is going to disappoint me.

Disaster looks like a good game

but Jasonguy makes it look like a horrible one.

I guess I'll have to try it, and then judge.

What exactly is the connection between selling poorly and being a bad game? Okami, Psychonauts, Beyond Good & Evil, they're all great games, they all sold poorly. Besides, it's obvious it isn't selling well, Nintendo's support towards the game was nonexistant. Let's wait and see if it really is a horrible game, for sure it's not a masterpiece but I can see it getting around 75% maybe 80% on Gamerankings.

Did Jasonguy play the game? No.

Wait for an accurate review (or try it) if you're doubtful about buying it.

Never wanted it in the first place.

If it gets to bad so incredibly bad then it won't come to NA. Reggie said that, meaning he's having his doubts on this game.

why do you care jaysonguy whether it does well or not? you swore not to buy any wii game ever. LOL

The more you follow the industry you'll see that reviewers get the games ahead of the release date that way their reviews can be out just before or on the date it launches.

And if we include the part you left out we see.....

Right, and they hated it so much that they called it "ultimately enjoyable" and are "looking forward to playing more" as their final word on the subject.

You asserted that it "blows badly" and "is not being viewed well by anyone". A game does not exactly need to be AAAA material for that assertion to be false.

we can agree, game looks wack. although when i seen the 'brief' trailer of that colossal tidal wave swallowing the statue of liberty @ e3 06 i was eager. then i saw what the game was, and all that anticipation just dissolved. great idea, terrible execution

"is not being viewed well by anyone"

Except that the one example you gave, gave it a 'B' rating and said "like any disaster movie of worth, it's a daft, wild and ultimately enjoyable ride." which is terribly contradictory to what you're saying.

Also, "Disaster: Day of Crisis is more like a vapid, but fun to watch summer action movie."

And Famitsu gave Disaster: Day of Crisis a score of 31/40.

Since the game is only available in Japan, 'anyone' is an incredibly small market at this point....except for the few who said it was decent.

Edit: I forgot to add that I'll probably end up importing even though I'd rather they just release it state side.

I know a lot of people are saying how can you judge a game if you haven't played it for yourself, well I am sorry to say there are some games out there that you can automatically tell that its going to turn out to be complete trash and this game right here is one of them.

Yeah, totally right. I remember yet another horrible, HORRIBLE, game that sold badly in Japan.

Metroid Prime 3: Corruption. Stay away from that game, for God's sake!!!

Oh, the horror, the horror...

Japan hates first person shooters.

Japan may love Metroid and even saved Super Metroid from failing but they wont support Metroid in it's first person form.

You didn't say "Nintendo finds the game unacceptable"; you said that it "blows badly" and "is not being viewed well by anyone". That is a factually incorrect statement; the very review that you linked to to prove those statements stated that the game was "ultimately enjoyable" and that they look forward to playing more.

I never actually said the blows part

Plus yes, you can cherry pick all you want it's your right. It still doesn't cover up what's wrong with the game.

One second, before I continue with you I have to do this one or I'm going to slap myself in the forehead again.

This quote right here?

Except that the one example you gave, gave it a 'B' rating and said "like any disaster movie of worth, it's a daft, wild and ultimately enjoyable ride." which is terribly contradictory to what you're saying.

Hells_Hammer

They didn't give it a "B" rating they said it's LIKE A B MOVIE.

Here's the quote from IGN.....

"Based on what we've seen so far, Disaster Day of Crisis is as 'B' as its cinematic inspiration."

Meaning it's like a B movie. A movie so bad it's good. Where you watch it just to make fun of it's flaws. Something you wouldn't pay to see but if it's on TV you're drawn to it on a weekend.

Ok Gabs, back atcha!

Just as I explained up there, the game is so bad it's enjoyable for these reviewers. I don't understand why you're glossing over that fact.

Dumb, flawed, and sloppy programming are not compliments

Plus this is a Nintendo game!

When is the last time you saw a Zelda game talked about as broken and cheezy but sure was a hoot? Nintendo wasn't aiming to make low rent gameplay here, it's not like they asked someone to make them a game that's sub par on every level. This is expected to be in line with their brand of games. Just because this one didn't come out right but we can laugh at it's faults it's now good?

No, no dice

This is a game that's being published by Nintendo

A crapfest that's fun to play might be ok for Ubisoft or Activision, it's unacceptable for Nintendo.

It's a bad game, you can say that words like flawed and sloppy programming are somehow compliments but it doesn't change what's going on.

The game is selling poorly in Japan, Wii Sports outsold it this week, last week too.

Nintendo is trying to bury the game.

GabuEx

You didn't say "Nintendo finds the game unacceptable"; you said that it "blows badly" and "is not being viewed well by anyone". That is a factually incorrect statement; the very review that you linked to to prove those statements stated that the game was "ultimately enjoyable" and that they look forward to playing more.

Jason wasn't the one that said it "blows badly", that was the TC.

Just trying to clear things up here.

But you're right, it's being reviewed well overall. Jay's just on another one of his romps.

Jason, if Nintendo is trying to hide the game because of its less-than-stellar quality, then why are they advertising Wii Music to death?

There have been news going around saying that the game really blows badly in Europe and I was wondering if anyone is surprised to hear that its turning out good for a game that everyone have been hyping up for to long? One thing for sure I wasn't impressed by this game at all when the screen shots were revealed followed by actual gameplay footage, its looks like the game have been rushed together and looks like a PS2 game.

But anyway is there anyone out there who is still looking forward to the US release to the game?

I know a lot of people are saying how can you judge a game if you haven't played it for yourself, well I am sorry to say there are some games out there that you can automatically tell that its going to turn out to be complete trash and this game right here is one of them.Melchezdek

Apparently, Wii Music didn't turn out that way in some reviews.
