Are you supposed to see the back fan in the Wii always moving?

I'm having troubleshooting problems with my Wii and I think it has to do with the fan. When is the fan in the back supposed to be moving? Everytime the Wii is on? When a game is being played? I turned on the Wii, looked in back of it and the fan wasn't moving. Answers, anyone?

The fan should be moving when the Wii is on (green light), but not when you're in standby mode (yellow light) or off (red light). If you're in the warranty period wait until it fails, and Nintendo will fix it for you. If you're out of warranty, you can probably buy a replacement fan.

You should hear it when you start up the console, like on the Wii Menu etc. Make sure your Wii is in a well ventilated area.

Alright, thanks. I just tried seeing in back while my sister was playing. I could hear it and feel some warm air, but are you supposed to actually SEE it moving?

If air is coming out of the vent, it's moving, so you don't need to be able to see it.

There's a grey object in the vent that looks like it's supposed to be a fan. It's round and has 4 sides, like the shape of a sun. I guess that's just a plug or something?

That's most likely the fan.

thats a really easy question if its working its moving and blowing hot air , out of the console

if it is not moving while its on thats a bad sign ,,

if its in standby it wont move /blow hot air
