Is anyone pleasantly surprised about the lack of awful multiplatform games on the DS?
I mean we all know that some games get released on 20 different platforms at once (like Madden) and who thought that the DS would not only hold their own but sometimes have the best versions?
Transformers - A great game that really surprised many. When we were told there was going to be a completely 3-D experience on the DS with the Transformers license many were skeptical. For the people who took the chance they found a very fun game that clearly had some time and care put into it to avoid it being just a movie cash in.
Sure, the streets weren't busy with cars and pedestrians but overall the game was a pleasure. Characters animated well and the entire game (while not looking amazing) ran error free for the most part with a solid frame rate and clean graphics.
The Simpsons Game - Another title people were taking a cautious approach with. When DS users were told that the Simpsons Game was going to be a platformer in 2-D rather then an adventure game in 3-D some were disappointed. The ones who stuck around and picked it up at were treated to a game with amazing voice work, solid platforming, wide variety of game modes, fantastic cutscenes that played just like an episode, and their own Pet Homer to interact with.
Madden - We all know that each year Madden is released on 300 different platforms (I think there's even a version for your microwave). The thing many don't know is just how great the DS version is. It's not a watered down version for the portable market. It has a slew of game modes like single game, season, and multi-season. It's got all the modes to handle players with trades, drafts, and free agents, heck even create your own players. Create your own playbook while you're at it if you want too.
What's your opinion on multiplatform games on the DS?
